Time Instead of Gold

"An ounce of gold cannot buy an ounce of time"

Your memory is all that is left,
But it is not near enough,
To fill in this hole,
That you have left.

I am sorry Father,
It was not enough.
The pain drove you away,
And not by choice you left.

I am sorry Father,
For your death has left,
Nothing, but pain,
And sorrow,
And your memory.

They give in your absence.
Money to help,
Or food to eat,
But nothing fills,
The void that you left.

The money will be spent.
The food will be eaten.
But nothing will help that,
You have been beaten.

The time is all that is left.
Each second wasted.
Each day was taken for granted.
Each memory stored.

Time is what we have wasted.
Time is what we lost.
And time is what we need.

Oh, if only they could gift us,
Time instead of gold
