"I found you, ya little shits," Izuku and Hitoshi froze up, eyes widening but pupils shrinking down. "You think you could've hid from me? Ha! What fools," Izuku shakily turned around, head filled with static as gear clogged up his throat. "I don't let anyone get away from me. Never have, never will." But when Izuku turned, he saw nothing but the shade from the trees across the leaf carpeted ground. He relaxed his tense shoulders slightly, just enough to be able to move around and convey a quick message to Hitoshi.
"We have to run..." he murmured, eyes forming into slits as he crouched down. "We have to get to the top of the mountain right now..." He glanced back, catching the frightened eyes of his friend who slightly nodded in reply. "Let's go. But stay low. We can't afford to be spotted right now."
They shifted back into cats and started padding forwards on silent paws, racing through the undergrowth as they heard the no. 1 hunter screaming in the distance. They silently hoped that nothing happened to whoever was found and caught, but they knew in their heart that no one could do anything once a hunter caught them. They closed their eyes and carried on, trying to drown out the sounds of screaming in the distance as they continued to trek up the mountain side.
"We're almost there. Just a bit further," Izuku muttered, pushing, urging his legs to go faster as light trickled in through the branches. The ground turned grassy, leaves giving way to a lush land that traveled up higher and higher. "It's here. We're here! Hitoshi, we made it!"
They broke through the trees and bushes, stepping out into an opening that shone brightly in the light that rained down. The grass turned golden under the light, the stone houses in which they lived turned silver as the crystal lake shone bright. It was there home. Still beautiful in the light as it's always been. Even though their legs ached from weaving through the trees and bushes and up a steep cliff side. There they stood, at the edge of their home now deserted because of the hunters. Though the place itself looked beautiful, it was left a mess in the hunters wake. Clothes, toys, food and more lay strewn all across the place, dirtied and worn rugged from fleeing hybrids across the mountain range. But in the centre of it all sat a rounded stone carved into the earth of the mountain. Runes painted in with light blue ink decorated the stone's surface, smaller rocks surrounding it.
"That's where I need to be," Izuku murmured, just loud enough for Hitoshi to hear. The purple cat turned his head in the direction that Izuku was facing, suddenly understanding what he was trying to say. "I know what I need to do. Will you help me?"
"Are you sure? This could be dangerous if anything goes wrong!" Worry filled Hitoshi's voice, but Izuku still nodded determinedly. "If you're really sure about this, then I'll help you. I can't think of anything else that'd help us in this situation right now. So I'll help you do this."
"Thank you," the duo walked up to the round stone, Izuku padding up to the centre of it while Hitoshi stayed by the edge. They nodded to each other, both shifting back to their semi-human forms and crouching into a kneel. Hitoshi places his hand upon a circle painted with the ink, closing his eyes as he murmured under his breath an ancient ritual they'd all learned when they were just young kits. "I hope this works. It has to if we want to save everyone. Please, talk to me and we'll make things right again. Just please. Help me... help us..."
The ink started to glow, brighter then the light that shone down upon the duo as they muttered under their breath. Their words mingled as they grew steadily louder, the greenette in the middle tracing symbols along the stone with an unsheathed claw s he was surrounded by the glowing blue light of the runes. From the bushes came Aizawa and Yamada, bursting through, panting and sweating. Their gazes traveled across the two hybrids in the centre of the opening, confusion seeping into their gazes as they witnessed the ritual the two were taking. A sudden shout from further down had them glancing at the hybrids wrists, seeing purple and green glows emitting from their marks, signifying a hunter nearby. Grabbing his capture weapon, Aizawa shared a quick look with Yamada before backing down the mountain side towards where the shouting came from. As the adults ventured away to keep the hybrids safe, a single thought of 'stay safe' formed in their minds.
But they knew that if they let the hunter through, then there was nothing that could stop him from killing the two right then and there. With that in mind, the adults urged themselves to go faster, minds set on keeping the two hybrids safe. Hitoshi moved his palm in a circle as the two left, sinking his claws down until they scraped against the stone. With just two of them here, the ritual would take longer. However, they had to complete this if they wanted to stand a chance against saving their kind from the hands of the hunters who only seek destruction upon them. Knowing that Aizawa and Yamada would protect them from their inevitable demise otherwise, they pushed on through the ritual. The glow intensified, surrounding them in its shimmering light. Their ears and tails lay flat against their heads and the ground, occasionally twitching the further into the ritual they got. But before they knew what was happening, the glow disappeared with Izuku, leaving Hitoshi there by himself.
"It's all up to you now, Izuku. I hope you know what you're doing there. Good luck," Hitoshi murmured, tilting us gaze up to the sky where fluffy clouds floated along. His attention was snapped back to the trees in which Aizawa and Yamada left through, shouting filling his now perked up ears. He pushed himself to his feet and started off in that direction. "Guess I can lend a helping hand. This is all I can do now. The rest is up to you now, Izuku."
