My eyes fluttered open, light flooding in and causing me to squint. My eyes adjusted quickly and I looked up, seeing a clear sky above me. I pushed myself up and looked around, noticing more of my kin here in our home. My ears perked up as ai heard a voice calling my name. I immediately pushing myself to my legs, turning around and racing towards my home. My eyes landed on my mother and I launched myself at her, tackling her into a tight hug.

"There you are, Izuku!" She exclaimed, hugging me back. We stayed like that for a few minutes before breaking apart, smiles stretched wide on our faces. "Are you ready? Today's an exciting day for young kits like yourself. Come on. They'll be starting soon."

It was at that point that I realised how much shorter I was, but I paid no mind to it as I followed after my mum. She took us round the house towards the central stone where rituals took place. Other kits sat around, watching with wide, awe filled eyes that tracked every small movement the hybrids in the centre made. One stood in the middle, six others standing along the rims edge. They kneeled down as placed their palms onto the stone, muttered ancient words leaving their lips as they started tinge ritual. I sat there in awe, much like all the other kits as we watched our first every ritual in full detail. We'd seen rituals happen prior to now, but never this close up. The blue glow emanated from the runes inscribed into the stone. It was like watching someone perform magic right in front of your eyes. Everything around. Mr was shut out as I focused on the ritual right in front of me.

The glow grew steadily brighter, and what felt like hours of watching them perform this ritual was only a few minutes at best. It reached it's climax, as the glow disappeared, along with the hybrid kneeling in the centre of the circle stone. I blinked once, twice, but he was definitely gone. I turned my gaze away from the stone as the other participants stood up, placing their hands together and bowing slightly. I looked up at my mother, and she must've seen the confusion in my eyes as she grabbed my hand and started leading me away.

"They've gone to see the Gods," she answered my unspoken question, tugging me along the path back to our house. "That ritual allows us to contact our Gods that watch over us. If it weren't for the God of peace, All Might, or the God of health, Chiyo, or any of the other many Gods that watch over us, we wouldn't be standing here peacefully today. And that last thing that the other participants did was a sign of respect towards our Gods. We thrive off everything they've given us, and yet they don't ask for anything in exchange. One day, you'll meet these Gods and talk to them, just like all the other kits have done past and present. But you'll be older then, and you'll understand what they've done for us and our people."

She explained it as if it were the simplest thing on Earth, but I didn't quite understand. Though, I guess she did say I'd understand when I'm older. I looked down at my hand and started to trace into the air what I saw the middle hybrid doing. I didn't quite understand them yet, but they must've had some significance behind them. We entered our home and mum met go of my hand, going over to a bookshelf filled to the brim with all kinds of books. I settled down on the lounge and waited as she looked through a few different books. Finally, she grabbed he one she was looking for and walked over to me, sitting down beside me. She opened the book and started to flip through, searching for a particular page. As she did so, I stared at the cover of the book as I'd never seen it before, even when looking through the bookshelf. It was... strange, to say the least. A single eye stared back at me, small runes running along the edges.

My attention snapped back to my mother as he finally found the page she was looking for. "Here it is," she murmured, leaning the book down so I could read along. "Long ago, there was a nation where all kinds of hybrids lived together peacefully. They'd travel, eat and sleep together as if they were one big family. However, a tragedy struck, causing the hybrids to split apart with their own kin. We traveled north-east, through raging waters and bloodthirsty animals that tried to tare us apart. But we all stood together as one, racing on ahead. We searched and searched for a home, but we slowly gave up. We wondered aimlessly for days, weeks even months with no home. And when we thought all Hope was lost, they appeared. Our Gods came to us, showed up the path to a place to live freely without worry. They led us to this mountain, helped us cultivate the land and make it ours. We cried with joy, danced and sung like there was no tomorrow and thanked and thanked the Gods who saved us. But they said,

"Do not thank us, for we are your kin. We do not need payment, nor do we need thanks. We only wish to help you all in trying times. So live on together, peacefully in this land we'll call home. That is all we wish for."

"So the people lived on, just like the Gods said. We made this place our home. A home for us and our future kin to be born. And so we did. Generation after generation were born here, and we thrived through the land gifted to us. Because of this, we are eternally grateful to our Gods for everything that they've done for us, in the past, present and coming future," mum closed the book and turned to me, a soft expression on her face. "Do you understand? Without the help we received, we don't know what would've happened to us in those times. So these rituals that we do are to keep in contact with the ones who saved us, and to show our gratitude to them for all they've done."

It was still confusing to me, but I nodded along anyway. Mum smiled and stood up, placing the book back on the shelf before heading to the kitchen to prepare something to eat. I sat there alone on the lounge as I thought about what I had just learned, but always came to the one conclusion. 'The Gods saved us, and for that we thank them.'
