5 years after...

"Good morning, Mom and Dad," I greeted once I went downstairs to eat breakfast.

It's six in the morning and I've prepared myself for my first job.

"Umupo ka na rito. Do you want to go there early? That's good para malaman mo ang mga dapat mong gawin," my mom said, smiling.

I sat on the chair beside Mom. I ate a heavy meal with them. Mahirap na, this is my first time, and I don't know what this day will bring to me.

"You're looking good, anak," my dad complimented.

Mom giggled. "Ako ang pumili ng formal outfit niya ngayong araw, John. She looks professional right now, isn't it?"

I smiled at the two of them as I continued munching my food.

"Thank you for doing this to our daughter. This is a big leap for her."

That's the right word, big leap.

"It's so overwhelming to see you lively and healthy, Yana. I've nothing to ask for," mommy gratefully commented.

She held my arm and smiled at me.

"I'll go na po. Mom, Dad, thank you. I love you."

"Paki-ingatan ho Mang Rio si Yana. Have a nice day and good luck, my love."

I waved my hand to Mommy when she helped me get inside our car.

I want to commute."

I can't help but pity myself. When will I learn to be independent? Lagi na lang akong under surveillance. I'm fully healed, ano pa bang gustong alamin nina Mom?

"Sigurado ho ba kayo rito, Madam? Baka po magalit sa akin sina Madam Sabel at Sir John," Manong Rio worried.

I rolled my eyes. This is why I'm extremely careful, I don't want my parent's employees to get fired because of me.

"Basta wala pong magsasalitang empleyado kay Mom, it'll be okay. I hope you understand me, Manong."

"Naiintindihan ko ho. Mag-iingat ho kayo," huling sambit ni Manong.

Lumabas ako ng kotse at naglakad malapit sa maraming tao sa sidewalk. I opened my umbrella and waited for a taxi. Hindi ako male-late ngayong araw, it's still early.

But I've regretted my idea of commuting when two hours passed.

Gosh! What should I do? I can't call Manong to pick me up. I exhaled a sigh and waited again.

"Good morning po," I greeted the employees that I passed by.

I didn't know why.

"Are you Yana Bartolome?" an employee asked me.

Tumango ako at ngumiti.

"The company's CMO is the successor of High Coast Corporation, Cresencia Madrigal. I hope you will do your job well," she said when we finally arrived at the right floor.
