YOU HIRED ME

Chapter 2: 'Mr. Heartlock'

I nervously went to my boss's office door and started knocking.

"Enter! "

With that said, I entered and closed the door behind me. I stood there staring at the man in front of me.

"Um... you wanted to see me . Sir."

"You must be Olivia Thomas."

"Y-yes sir."

"Well Olivia, I've read through your files. You don't do much, do you?"

"Right. I'm just a single mom who's trying to find a job."

I was so nervous that I started playing with my fingers.  I still couldn't see his face. But I could tell that he was pleased with I just said.

"Well Thomas, I can't hire you until I see what you can do."

"What do you mean sir?"

"The files on the desk are the houses that you must design. I gave you five houses, if you can please these customers in just two weeks then I'll hire you."

I took up the files and looked through.  I was kinda surprise by what the customers wanted.

"You can start now Olivia. "

"Yes sir."

I came left his office and decided to start now.

"Hey Olivia."

"Hey Latoya."

"How did it go?"

"Not bad, but he gave me some houses to deal with so I'll talk to you later."

Well its time start.

Its 10 PM  and I've just completed one house. All I could say is that these people don't know what they want.

As I got home I changed in my PJs and jumped in my bed and started groaning in pain. My brain had never worked that much in my life.

"Mommy?"

"Yes sweety."

"Are you Ok? You dont look happy."

I looked at my five year old daughter and smiled.

"Don't worry Olive, mommy is just tired."

She came in my bed lying down beside me before she dosed off. Well the first day of work went good. I think.

I woke up for another day of work. I got ready and went to work.

"Morning Latoya, how are you?"

"Hey Olivia, not bad actually. I saw the house you designed, it was amazing. The customers loved it."

"Thanks, it took them hours to know the difference between cute and hideous. I mean who put a black carpet in a living room that has all bright colors."

We laughed and headed to our station. It's now 8 o'clock and I've just finished one more house. I've just returned until I heard that my boss called me. I knocked before entering his office.

"You wanted to see me sir?"

"Yes Thomas. I'd like to say well done."

"For what sir?"

And that's when I finally saw his face.
His eyes were green and his hair was chocolate brown. I was surprised because I have never seen his face before.

"Well Thomas, I gave you a week to please me with your work, and it only took a day."

"So...what does that mean sir?"

I was so nervous about what he's going to say next. Then suddenly he came in front of me and stretched his hand towards me.

"Welcome to the job."

I smiled and shook his hand. And that's where my life began.
