Chapter 11: 'Be by your side'

Tears came to my eyes after what my mom told me when we got home. I never expected this. I couldn't believe this.

" F-For how long?" She smiled at my with tears flowing from her eyes.

"For two years. All my hair is gone, I wear a wig to cover it up everyday.  I went to the doctor yesterday and they told me that is spreading rapidly. I'm sorry my daughter. " She opened out her arms and I ran to hug her. I know my mom could be annoying sometimes but I love her. She's being by side during everything. When my dad died and i had no one to run to, she was there. When Olive's father died, she comforted my and engorged me to stay strong. This woman is my mother, sister and my best friend. I could never ask for another, I love her.

I stepped back and held her hands. She looked very pale close up and it made me worry.

"Why didn't you tell me that you  had cancer?" She smiled and placed her hand on my face. I hugged her tightly and wiped the tears from her eyes.

"I knew you would be worried, I'm sorry. "

"Mom it's not your fault that you have cancer.  But should've told me. I'm your daughter and I know it hurts to know that I'm going to lose you but at least let me enjoy the time I have left with you." She smiled and held me.

"Mom, I know I haven't tell you this in a long while but I just want you to know. I love you."

"I love you too my princess." I started smiling until tears came back down.

My mom was leaving in two weeks, so I decided to spend them with her. Yep that's right,  we went to the Arcade, to  Victoria Secrets and to the ice cream shop. We had a lot of fun together. We followed her to airport and waved her goodbye. I'll miss her.

It's been a week since my mother told me she had cancer. I still couldn't believe it. I was at the park under the same tree where I confronted Nicole. I carried my knees to my face and wrapped my arms around them. I sat there in silence thinking about  everything that my mom said to me.

I repeated every word in my mind. 'I have cancer' I  buried my head in feet and started sniffling. And what makes it even worse, I got a call from the hospital that she was in there. I feared losing someone I love again. I was loss in thoughts until someone tapped my shoulder, I looked up and saw Zane standing in front of me.

"You Ok Olivia?" He looked worried. I wiped my nose and smiled.

"I'm Ok Zane." He sat down beside me and grabbed one of my hand.

"You know I don't like when people lie to me." He gave me a look that I couldn't refuse, I sighed and looked up in the tree.

"Fine you got me. I'm not ok, my mom is now in the hospital Zane, I don't know how to handle another love one dying. "

"Why is she in there?" I squeezed his hand trying to hold back the tears.

"She has cancer." He slightly smiled and held me. I allowed the tears to fall while I held him.

"I don't know what I would do if I loss her."

"I know and I understand, from my point of view, I can tell that you and your mother are really close. " I chucked and looked at him.

"We are, she's more of my best friend than my mom. She's being with me through my father's death, she comforted me when Olive's father died and she's also been their when I had other problems. I couldn't replace her for another."  I smiled from all those memories of my mom. 

"I'll always be by your side Olivia, even when you don't want me around. " I looked at him and smiled.

"You promise?" He wiped a tear from my eyes and kissed my forehead.

"I promise."

"Thanks Zane." He smiled and began to lean closer to my face. I closed my eyes wait for what was about  to happen until my phone started ringing. My eyes flew open and went back from Zane.

"Sorry."

"Its okay."I took my phone and answered.

"Hello?"

"Hello is this Olivia Thomas?"

"Yes that's me."

"We have reports of your mother from the hospital." My eyes widen for the mention of my mother.

"What's wrong with her?"

"I'm sorry to say this but your mother had suddenly past away." And with that my heart fell.

"Miss Thomas?"

"T-Thank you for tell me."

"I apologize for your loss but I hope you'll feel better after this." I hung up the phone and looked at Zane.

"S-She's gone. She's actually gone." He pulled me in a hug and I broke down in tears.

"Its okay Olivia." But I continued crying. Then I heard him mumble something under his breath.

"No matter what I'll always be by your side. I love you Olivia. "
