Chapter 13: 'Protection'

Zane's POV :

Olivia came back to work the next week. She wasn't happy but she was calm, she came and sat around my desk and looked at me. I knew it was something about last week.

"Um Zane?"

"Yeah." She looked down and bit her lips.

"Umm..."She started playing with her fingers. I knew she was nervous, I mean she does it anytime she wants to ask a certain question.

"What wrong?" She sighed and stood up.

"Nevermind." She turned around and started walking towards the door. I got up and grabbed her wrist spinning her to the door. I backed her up against the door.

"What's wrong Olivia?" She bit her lips and looked away from me.

"Um..." I smiled and lifted her chin up and chuckled.

"Olivia, you don't need to be nervous. Just tell me." She started blushing and I just chuckled.

"Okay then I'll leave you alone." As I was about walk away she grabbed my face and kissed me. I was surprised. She quickly pulled away and ran out of the office. What the actual heck?!

I touched my lips and chuckled. My phone started ringing taking me out of my thoughts.

"Hello?"

"Mr. Heartlock, this is Miss. Wellbrook, you have a meeting with one of the head officer. " Whyyyyyy.

It's now 11pm and I've just finished the meeting with the head officer.I got up and took my jacket off the hanger, I closed my office door and went down the hallway.

"No I don't know why your here or how you found me but I'm not interested. " I heard Olivia in the hallway talking to someone.

"Come on Olivia give me a break. Just move on already, you know you still have a crush on me." I stood behind the wall just to listen to their conversation.

"Listen, that was just a high school crush, I'm a mother and a hardworking woman I don't have time for these crap." She said.

"Very well then. I'll just force you!" She started grunting in pain and screaming.

"Let me go!!" I suddenly realized what he was doing. I stepped out a slowly walk towards then. The man looked and gave a curious look.

"Who the hell are you?!" He squeezed Olivia hand and she yelped.

"I don't think it's right for you to just ask stupid questions in my place." I gave him a death glare.

"What are you talking about?" He squeezed her more and more and she bit her lips in pain. A tear fell from her eyes and I had enough. I walked towards him and stood in front of his face.

"Let. Her. Go." He laughed out and tighten his grip. She yelled out and looked at me. She was on the floor crying in fear and in pain. But I would never break my promise towards her. I would always protect her. I fold my fist and punched him in the face. He loosed her hand and fell holding his bloody nose. I grabbed him by his shirt and looked in his eyes.

"If you dare put your hand on her ever again. You'll get more than just a bloody nose. " I gave a cold smile. He shook his head in fear and got up holding his nose still. He turned around and ran away. I turned to Olivia who was still on the ground holding her arm. I went and stooped in front of her, I carefully held her hand and looked at it. It was changing color because of the grip, fold my fist and closed my eyes in anger. Suddenly she placed her hand on my face and I looked at her.

"I'm okay Zane." She smiled at me. Her smile calmed me and I sighed.

"Who was that?"

"Someone who I regretted to have a crush on in high school. " I smiled and took her up off the floor. She stood up and looked at me, then she smiled and hugged me. I responded and hugged her. She stood back and held my face, heat crept up on my face and I looked away from her, she giggled realizing how embarrassed I was. She came closer and kissed my cheek. I looked at her a bit shocked, but then I smiled.

"Thanks Zane. "

"Anytime. I'll protect you no matter what. " I held her hand and lifted her chin. She looked at me, and her face got red. I chuckled and looked at her. . She groaned and gave me a quick kiss on my lips. I froze and looked at her.

"S-sorry I couldn't help my self. Please for-" I interrupted her smashing my lips on hers. She froze for a while before replying. Her arms went around my neck and mine on her hips. She pulled back and looked at me, she held my hands and gave me a worried look.

"Um... Zane, I don't want you to get angry. "

"What wrong?"

"I'm not sure if I want to start another relationship." I smiled and held her chin up.

"Then I'll wait on you." She smiled. I pecked her lips and held her hand. She yelped in pain and held her hand that was now swollen.

"Let me take you home so you can fix that." She nodded her head smiled.

I know she couldn't get over the past. But I'll wait on her. I'll always wait on her because I love her. I'll always love her.
