Chapter one
Maddi's POV
My name is Maddi Beane and I am 18. My best friend/more like sister, is Kendal Conahann. She is 17 but acts way more mature than I did when I was that age. I have practically lived at her house since I was 13, we were on a local cheer team together. We had one last competition of being on Flames and rumor was, Eddie and Orby we're scouting and happened upon our gym. The music blasted on and Me and Kendal threw our standing fulls. We were the only ones on the team with fulls. I caught Eddie's eye and he winked at me. Back handspring layout into the partner stunts. Me and Kendal were point flyers. We both pulled our needles and then double downed. Soon came the pyramid. I hit my part perfectly and so did my best friend. As soon as the music stopped, we ran to each other and she jumped on me. Eddie and Orby came up to talk to us. We shook hands with them and Smoed's head coach spoke. "We would like you to try out for our team as we have lost our two best flyers. Tryouts are on June 4th and since you live here in Georgia, we will fly you to Cali and provide you with a house to live in." Eddie continued, "we hope to see you there. Here is my number. Call me with any questions or concerns." With that, he walked out with Orby trailing behind him. Kendal and I squealed and ran to our parents asking if we could go. Both of us have had straight A's all of our life and we're willing to try homeschooling. Mrs. Conahann said "Yes! Congratulations!"
*time lapse to next week*
My boyfriend Brian gave me a quick kiss on the lips. He was wearing my favorite cologne. He gave me a tight hug and gave the flight attendant my luggage. "I will come visit for Thanksgiving love!" I boarded the plane as I found our first class seats. The plane engine started but Kendal wasn't on yet. I started to panic. I got up out of my seat and started running to get to the exit. Even though I was a flyer, I was terrified of heights. I could not go on a plane without my best friend. "OUCH!" Someone yelled as I knocked them completely off of the stairs. Then I realized it was Kendal. She gave me a punch on the arm and then made me sit down and buckle my seat belt. "I was with Rick!! Chill out." "Rick can wait. You almost missed the plane!" "Well I didn't exactly see Brian keeping his hands off you." "We are dating. It's different." I complained. She pulled a velvet box out of her pocket with a necklace. "He asked me out right before you gave me a minor concussion." She said with a smirk. I squealed a bit too loudly and the pilot came to give me a warning. I squeezed Kendal's hand as the plane took off.
