Josh has been discharged from the hospital for 3 weeks and in the last week or so he started heaving really bad kidney aches daily. At first, he blamed it all on the things that were going on in his life and the fact that he was stressed by his parents' divorce, his dad's new relationship with his mom's mental state, and his sister's death and his own health state and the treatment he had to go through to eliminate any possibility that his immune system is far more damaged than it was originally discovered. The weird thing about his treatment is that the side effects didn't include any kind of pain just weight loss which kind of helped Josh be more believable that it was just the treatment causing him all that because as he lost weight he was also getting weaker and weaker and he couldn't do much anyway because of how bad his kidney situation was getting. One day Josh was walking down the stairs and his vision started playing tricks on him and he fainted and fell down the stairs just as Matt was coming home. He called 911 and the ambulance came and took him to the hospital. After hours and hours of waiting, the 2 finally found out what was wrong. Turns out the pills he was taking as ''treatment'' got him into an allergic reaction which turned into kidney stones. Kidney stone disease, also known as nephrolithiasis or urolithiasis, is when a (kidney stone). Kidney stones typically form in the kidney and leave the body in the urine stream. A small stone may pass without causing symptoms. If a stone grows to more than 5 millimeters (0.2 in), it can cause blockage of the, resulting in severe pain in the lower back or abdomen. A stone may also result in blood in the urine, vomiting. About half of the people who have had a kidney stone will have another within ten years. When Josh heard that he broke down in tears but the doctor told him everything can be fixed with a surgical procedure followed by a few weeks of recovery. The procedure was scheduled for the very next day. Josh was let go out of the hospital just for the night so he can pack up some stuff for the time he'll be spending for the surgery and recovery. He went home, had a good night's sleep, and the next day he woke up and went drove directly to the hospital. The pair got there at 10:00 and the surgery was scheduled for 11:00. During this time he had to sign some papers according to which none of his relatives nor Matt will sue the hospital in case something falls out place or God forbid death during or 12 hours after the surgery . He signed everything after a couple of panic attacks and now came the moment that the fact that the surgery might fail hit Josh like a hammer. He had to create a will and he did it in the hospital waiting room for the surgery in less than 30 minutes before surgery. He left everything to Matt, and his parents are stinking rich and even with all that Matt still wanted the surgery to succeed which goes to show just how much he loves Josh. And now for real who doesn't want lots of money? Well, i guess Matt doesn't because he was about to get an insane amount of money and he still stayed loyal to his fiance. It was now 11:30 and Josh's surgery seemed to be going smoothly and that was until the doctor went out of the operating room with a very sour look on his face and sat Matt down and told him: - It seems that Josh's kidney situation is much more serious than as we originally saw. - So what does that mean? - Its not actually kidney stones - Then what is it? - Its... kidney failure... - So that means he... - Needs a transplant. And if we don't find a donor in the next 12 hours he won't survive without dialysis. But there's one more problem, whoever decides to donate will also have to go through dialysis for a big part of their lives since it is nearly impossible to live with one kidney. - I wanna get tested. - Alright..but you are doing it at your own risk - I know. After this, the doctor went back to the OR (operating room) and sewed Josh back up and cleaned his wounds and tried to wake him because there was no way they could get him to sleep till Matt's results were ready and throughout the surgery which was a 3 hours procedure, all complications excluded. So the doctor did all he had to do, Josh woke up and the doctor told him everything but since this, kind of surgery has one rule and that is the receiver and the donor weren't allowed to meet unless they knew each other and agreed to do this together. So now came the hardest part for the doctor, keeping Josh away from Matt because he was stubborn and not that easy to work with they had to put him down again. Matt's blood test results came back and he was compatible with Josh. The boys went into surgery and after 3 hours the went to announce Matt's parents that the surgery went perfect. After about an hour they woke up and after another 30 minutes, they were allowed to meet. As Josh was helped to get up and get in a wheelchair he felt his new kidney move in a weird position. He collapsed to the floor and the doctors had to get him back into surgery in order to see what had happened. Luckily it wasn't something as bad as they thought. All they had to do was extract a part of a muscle from his left leg to somehow tie everything together. Not long after he was out of surgery and this time the doctors were certain there was nothing that could happen. His immune system was really strong and as a result of that was he only needed 3 weeks of recovery. He was doing great on his recovery and he was actually let go 2 days earlier when he was supposed to. The 2 boys walked out of the hospital and were going to the parking lot when suddenly a man dressed in all black and hit both of them in the head with a shovel but only took Josh with him. The man threw him in the back of a van and drove off to an abandoned building where he took advantage of the boy. Sadly for him, he woke up in the middle of everything and screamed until he passed out again. When he woke up for the last time he was full of bruises scratches, naked and in a lot of pain.He had no clothes, no phone, no wallet. He just got up and started walking around the area, as he was walking the houses around him started being very familiar and as soon as he realized he was in his neighborhood he started running to his and Matt's house. He went in, slammed the door put his back against it, and slid down sobbing. He cried for almost 2 hours and remembering all the pain he felt while being awake. When he was done crying he decided to take a shower to wash off some of the blood that came with the punches and hits he took but also the feeling of cheapness every time he felt he was naked and also remembered why that was the case. He couldn't even stand to look at himself in the mirror. After showering he wrapped himself in a blanket still naked because putting on clothes would mean moving his arms and legs and he was in too much pain to do that and fell asleep. And now on the brighter side of things, Matt's injury was far less complicated so he was let go from the hospital the same night. He got home and noticed Josh sleeping on the couch but did not see the bruises and scars on him and tried to get him upstairs to bed, but he woke up screaming: - NO! NO! LEAVE ME ALONE! - What's wrong babe? - Oh, it's you. - Yeah who else who could it be? And why are you naked? Matt asked while winking at his boyfriend - Well we need to talk, sit down, please. - Okay, what's happening? - I can't say much because I don't remember much, all I remember is that we were walking out of the hospital and when I woke there was a man on top of me and he was... - Oh no baby, I'm so sorry I wasn't there. - It's alright but I was wondering if we could take the money that we kept for the car and use them so I can start therapy. I found this therapist online but his price is 100 dollars each and I know we have 1.600 already and I think that would be enough for 16 sessions. - Yes, of course, you are far more important for me than a car - Thanks babe, and also, could you sleep here on the couch for a few days? I don't know if I'd feel comfortable with someone being behind me - Sure, ill just go get a couple of things so I don't have to come in tomorrow morning The next day Matt has already left for work and Josh woke up, went to take the mail from the porch. He looked through everything and there seemed to be only bills but there was one envelope that really got his attention. Josh decided to open it, and in there he found a letter. The boy decided to open it and it said: Hey bi*ch, you really thought your nightmare is over? Well, I'm more than happy to announce to you that this is just the beginning of it. When he was done reading he ran to the phone and called Matt. Josh explained everything to his boyfriend. He came home as soon as he could. He barged in said to Josh: - We gotta go to the police station but first sit down. - First of all, why go to the police station? We don't even know who did all these. And second, why do l have to sit down? - Just sit, please! Josh sat down, he looked and Matt and asked: - So, what's up? - Remember when I took you to meet my parents..and what you told me about dad? - That I thought he had a bit of a thing for me? - Yes.. - What about that? - It's true... that's why I decided its better that we take this house - And that's why your dad always looks weird at me... - Yes...I'm sorry... - You have nothing to be sorry about..now let's go... The 2 boys went down to the police station to file a complaint about sexual assault and life-threatening letters since they knew who it was the police was sent to Matt's dad's house. He was taken by the police under his girlfriend's worried eyes. He was taken to court where he was given a 20 years old sentence. The very next day Josh start therapy where he was diagnosed with PTDD (post-traumatic depressive disorder) anxiety and bipolar disorder. With every session, his signs of progress were more and more visible to the point where seemed cured completely. Everyone was surprised by his complete change of character. Part of was therapy but a bigger role in his personality was the fact that he was drinking and using all kinds of illegal substances. He was using so much so that it began affecting his mental health as well. His bipolarity shifted in a downward spiral to the point it hit multiple personality disorder. This disorder causes a person that went through trauma to act differently around his loved ones besides when he's out in public. Around Matt, he was manipulative and made him think he was still hurt by everything that happened and when he wasn't around he was acting as any 17-year-old boy does. He didn't seem to be on anything at first because he knew how to manage everything, he would take them when Matt left for work and their effects would be completely done by the time he came back home. He continued this routine for a few weeks until one day where his plan went out of hand and he took too much at once than usual and as a result, he went into a nervous breakdown and was almost uncontrollable. Luckily this episode started just when Matt got home and he was able to calm his boyfriend down and get him to bed. After about an hour Josh finally went to sleep. Afterward, he went to take a shower, but before he wanted to shave a bit. When he opened the bathroom cabinet to take out what needed he noticed some bottles of pills such as Xanax, Prozac, and Adderall. The Xanax and Prozac were to help and sleep and the Adderall was meant to keep him going throughout the day. Matt immediately threw them in the toilet and flushed them down the drain. The next day when Josh woke up Matt as already gone to wor and it was the perfect time for him to pop a pill but when he searched for them in the bathroom but couldn't find them so he freaked out and had a panic attack that pushed him into the 'loving' arms of alcohol. He said he would drink one glass, that one glass turned into one bottle that turned into him passing out on the couch. He slept the whole day and when Matt found him carried him to the bed for the second time in 2 days. He pretty much slept through the entire putting aside the 2 times he woke up to pee and take a pill for his headache. The very next day Matt took a day off work and took Josh to a 'fun trip' to a rehab center. He stayed there for only a week because his addictions weren't in that bad of a state. When he was done he came out a totally different person. And his discharge from the rehab center came just in time for the first day of the last year in high school for the 2 boys
