Chapter 16: Off to college (the end)

June 20th, 2031. Noelle and Wyatt have been husband and wife for less than 24 hours and they were now packing for their honeymoon. Once they were finished Wyatt took the bags down, Noelle breastfed Ben one last time and she had already pumped before so Ben can still get breast milk and not have to change to a formula for the 3 weeks they'll be gone. So Ben got his breakfast, a couple kisses, a good cuddle which meant they were ready for their dream honeymoon in countries including but not limited to France, England, Italy, Bulgary and Greece. They took a cab to their airport and from there straight to the first country they wanted to visit which was Greece, and they'll be in a beautiful lux full hotel in Santorini, but since they only had 3 weeks they could only stay in Greece for 2 days before moving on to the next country which was France, Paris, to be exact. But I don't wanna spoil more of their plans so let's go back from where we left off. They got to the airport just in time for the whole bag checking thing. Their bags were of course fine and from there they went straight to the plane. 10 hours later they finally landed and had 2 days to spend in any way they wanted. The drive to the hotel was about 30 minutes long. The hotel was, not even luxurious. It was a fairytale, the staff was so nice, the first thing they noticed going in was the smell, Wyatt even jokingly said it smells like what he thinks paradise is like. It was a mixture of flowers and room perfume. Their suite was just like a mansion. They let their bags on the bed, took a shower, changed, and hit the road, they walked the entire island from corner to corner. After a long but very magnificent walk, they decided to go back to the hotel but before they could do anything a man approached them and offered them 1000 dollars in exchange for Noelle to pose for his photoshoot. At first, they were both skeptical at first but then happily agreed. The only problem was that the photo shoot was in 2 days, and tomorrow night they would have to leave Greece to go to the next country which as i already said before was France. They decided to give up on France so she could get to be a part of the photoshoot. The actual photoshoot will be done in only 3-4 hours but the photos won't be out for 1-2 days.  They arrived at the hotel but when they put Wyatt put his hand in his pocket to get the key they realized they left the key inside and the door would automatically lock on the outside. No big deal, they could go get someone from the hotel staff to unlock the door, right? Well, not really. If any of the hotel's objects or anything that belongs to the hotel gets lost the people who lost it have to pay a fine of 2000 dollars. Then Wyatt had the miraculous yet kinda stupid idea to get inside the room by going outside and going through the window since the room was on the first floor. So as Noelle blindly trusts her new hubby they decided to go outside by their window room and push each other in. So when they got to the scene of 'crime' Noelle jumped on Wyatt's shoulders and got inside and unlocked the door from the inside. So now they were both inside and spent the rest of the day as usual. They took a nap then went downstairs to dinner then went to sleep. The next day they woke up at 11:00. Noelle's photoshoot was at 11:30 so they literally jumped out of their beds and into the clothes that they picked the night before since it was going to be a couple's photoshoot. They arrived at the location and it was a beautiful venue and the whole equipment was already set and ready to go. After 3 hours they were done with their portion of the entire deal. They had a small drink, chatted with the photographer, and then left. As soon as they left the building Noelle's phone called, it was Josh and Matt and they had to give the newlyweds the most heartbreaking news ever. It all started a few weeks when they were still home and they took Ben to his usual check-up given that Noelle almost lost the pregnancy and everything health-related on Wyatt's side of the family and his results came in today and the papers state that he has stage 1 kidney cancer. The second Noelle heard this her phone made contact with the ground and the tears poured out worse than rain during a storm. Wyatt tried to ask her what's wrong and comfort her but she was just so sad and she was just a mess. She cried the entire trip to the hotel and finally when they entered the room she sobbed a couple more times, sat Wyatt down then proceeded to tell him:                                                                      - Your dads called, Ben's results came in today                                                                                                        - So, what is it?                                                                                                                                                                        Before Noelle could even begin to give Wyatt the news she bursted into tears again but managed to calm herself down quick and let her husband know what was wrong:                                                     - Can you promise you'll try to remain calm?                                                                                                            - Yes, now please just tell me already.                                                                                                                           - He...uhmm...he...                                                                                                                                                                 - Please tell me                                                                                                                                                                        - He has stage one kidney cancer... Said Noelle as the thought when she'll go back home might be the last time she ever sees her son well and somewhat healthy. As I mentioned, they already canceled one destination of their honeymoon as they had to wait for the photos  they just took to be out and see if that could lead them into signing a contract which will not keep them in Greece forever as one of the owners of the company who decides who gets a job or who doesnt was american. With that being said they went back to the hotel and spent the next 2 days planning what to do next about Ben. It was now Friday morning and finally some good news arrived, they matched what the company looked for and got a 3 year contract with them. As soon as they were done at the photographer office they ran straight to the airport  and went back home. The whole flight and car ride till they arrived at the house was filled with thoughts and worries about wether or not Ben will still be fine when they'll arrive. Luckily now, after 4 hours and 30 minutes they arrived home and could finally have a sigh of relief seeing Ben playing and laughing with his 2 sets of grandparents because Noelle's moms also came to welcome back the newly weds. Everything seemed perfectly fine and dandy until a few hours later when Noelle's moms left and Ben was taking his daily nap. But after a while Noelle and Wyatt realized their son was sleeping for an abnormal number of hours so Wyatt was the one who went upstairs to wake him and when he went into the room where he was sleeping he discovered Ben was having a really high fever and would not wake up. That's when he called Noelle to come upstairs to check on him as she was the more reasonable one as any mom is and knows her baby better than anyone. 2 When the tried to grab him and wake him up he discovered something Wyatt didnt because the light was still off. Not only the baby had a raging fever his nose was also bleeding. They were both terrified as Ben still wouldnt bother to wake up and his fever was not lowering. They decided to go to the hospital and when Noelle picked him from the crib he immediately started crying and blood started streaming out of his little nostrils again. After a 5 minutes road to the hospital which for the young parents seemed more like 50 hours but now they finally arrived at the hospital and Ben was now counscious and not crying but his fever still showed a sign of concern. The second his doctor saw him he immediately called for a nurse to free a room which made Noelle and Wyatt's worry levels go from a 10 to a thousand. They were not allowed with him in the room for the first 30 minutes as the doctors had to preform sort of a procedure on him to make sure his kidneys were still doing at least half of what they had to. After 30 minutes Noelle and Wyatt were both called into the doctors office:     - So, i have bad news and good news. In which order do you wanna hear them.                                      - The bad news doc, said Noelle convinced that hearing the good news second would cheer her up                                                                                                                                                                                                 - So, Ben's state worsened quicker then we anticipated.                                                                                      - And the good news?                                                                                                                                                           - We can still save him and he will not have to gor through not even round of chemo-therapy.        - But how?                                                                                                                                                                                 - With a kidney transplant but it needs to get done in the next 24 hours. Since you're already here and are his parents one you could be his chance.                                                                                                   -  But, you see, Wyatt also had a kidney transplant, and has only one healthy kidney and if he give that one to Ben wont he have to go on dialisis?                                                                                                - If he only has one working kidney we are not allowed to preform a surgery on him. So that means every hope goes on you, Noelle.                                                                                                                       They talked with the doctor for a little while longer before Noelle went to get her blood tested. Her results came back and its like something came from up there and her results matched with Ben's and they both got into surgery. The hours Wyatt hahd to wait for his baby and wife to be awake and at least get out of surgery were filled with thoughts and guilt because he cant do anything to save either one of them. After about 12 hours both Noelle and Ben got out of surgery. They slept the whole night and the next day they woke up and the doctor announced that everything went as planned and they were both out of any kind of danger for a very long period of time or even forever. A week later they got out of the hospital and they now had to concentrate on what college they'll go to and what they'll do once fall comes around that was only 3 weeks away. They sent their aplications to many colleges in and out of town. Now they had everything planned and even moved into their own house. 2 weeks later their college responses came in and they were both accepted in the same college that was out of town. Another week later they were preparing to move and their parents came to visit. They had one last nice lunch as  a family. After this the still newly weds and their baby boy got into the car and were watched by their parents as they wondered off and into the unknown that adulthood is. THE END
