It was just supposed to be a rehearsal, so how could everything go so wrong so fast?

It was routine, they'd done something like this hundreds of times before and nothing had gone wrong. So why today, why now when they all had something on the line, did something go wrong?

It was all so fast, one minute Minjoo was talking to Shijin and Daeyoung about how the latter had broken up with Myeongju, and how he simply couldn't explain why.

"I think I'm depressed." Daeyoung sighed as he bit into the candy bar, him ignoring the longing glances from Shijin.

"You think?" Minjoo scoffed as she joined the two men, her arms crossed loosely over her chest. "You would know, Daeyoung-ah."

"What kind of depression comes on so quickly?" Shijin asked rhetorically, him too crossing his arms as he ran his tongue across his cheek.

"I broke up with First Lieutenant Yoon." Daeyoung spoke quickly, him taking half a step away from Minjoo when he saw her face harden.

"You did what?" The girl asked as she blinked a few times, her leaning her head closer hoping she didn't hear him correctly.

"Why?" Shijin asked. "Who dumped who?"

"I got dumped." Daeyoung said, emphasising the 'I' in the sentence. "I cannot tell you the reason-"

Then a man was entering the premises, but not just any man. It was that soldier from the North, the one who bought them their first buckwheat noodles and the one who said he wouldn't be coming to this summit.

"I don't trust my own." Jeong-joon answered honestly, his fists clenching at his sides. "So I came all this way to see a friend."

Minjoo shared a look with Daeyoung, them both being slightly behind Shijin as their guns were trained on the man in front of them.

"Please, send me back up North." The man begged, not necessarily sounding like it but Minjoo knew the tone.

Their small talk didn't last long, in fact it ended there as a sleek black van came barrelling around the corner, a man hanging out of the passenger window as he fired a few rounds into Jeong-joon.

Minjoo and her boys were able to duck and cover before they were hit, them all hiding behind different cars and firing back at the new assailants. The girl watched over the hood of the car as the van came to a stop next to Jeong-joon, the men still firing as the side door was pulled open.

Bullets flew as Minjoo repositioned so she could shout out the vans front tyres, her getting one in the first shot as Shijin and Daeyoung shot at the driver and passenger.

Minjoo could faintly hear Shijin calling for backup over her gunshots but everything came to a stop for her when a searing pain shot through her cheek.

The girl gasped as she span, her back slamming into the car door as her breathing became erratic. Minjoo could feel the bright pain on her left cheek as she lifted a hand to feel as it, her fingers coming down covered in blood.
