Blue

Blue crouched and began eating the squirrel she caught. Delicious! I wonder if my sister managed to catch anything.

Then, from the corner of her eye, she saw a cat approach her. She stopped eating and looked over, then noticed it was just Mist. She sighed. ''I thought you were an intruder!''

Mist purred in amusement. ''Don't you recognize your own sister?'' She meowed, then dropped the crow to the ground and crouched over it to eat it.

''Well, I saw you with the corner of my eye, so I didn't really see that it was you.'' Blue meowed, then continued to eat her squirrel. When she finished, she lay down and licked her muzzle. She then noticed Mist was done eating as well.

''Well, now what?'' Blue asked. ''I'm bored.''

''You're always bored.'' Mist rolled her eyes. ''What do you want to do?''

''Anything, honestly.'' Blue shrugged and got up. ''Should we go back in the forest again?''

''I- Blue! We almost got caught last time!'' Mist hissed.

Blue nodded. ''Yes, and the cats are probably gone now. Why not go explore?'' She suggested.

''Well, I'm not coming with you, then.'' Mist got up. ''I'll stay here.'' She meowed and padded toward the den.

Blue rolled her eyes and padded toward the forest. Why does my sister keep choosing the most boring things?

Once she entered the forest, Blue looked around. She sniffed the air and padded back to the bush where she and Mist hid when the three cats almost found them. She looked around. Of course they're gone! Mist doesn't have to worry about anything.

I'll just explore for a bit. Blue looked around, but she didn't see anything interesting.

She then heard a squeak. She turned around, confused and afraid at the same time. She followed the noise, until she smelled a weird scent. She froze. Blood.

She began running toward the scent until she reached the place. In front of her, a tiny ginger she-kit kept backing off, barely dodging the angry bites of a fox.

Blue's fur bristled. I can't let that fox hurt the kit!

She then jumped out of the bush. ''Hey, you! Yeah, you fox! Come over here and fight me! Leave the kit alone!'' Blue yowled.

The fox turned around, its golden eyes shining with annoyance and malice.

Blue hissed, then picked up a small rock and threw it at the fox. It growled, then began running toward her. The she-cat turned around and led the fox away from the kit. That's it!

What she didn't realize was the fact that she had nowhere to run, and the fox would eventually catch her. Uh-oh, now I'm in big trouble!

Blue jumped over a fallen branch, then stopped. There was a large tree in front of her, and before she could run past it, the fox already jumped past the fallen branch and was standing right behind her. Blue turned around, her fur bristling. I won't let this creature kill me!

When the fox wanted to bite her, Blue quickly jumped on the fox's back, clawing it. The fox yowled and began running around in circles, trying to throw the she-cat off. But Blue dug her claws deeper in the fox's fur, and bit on its ears.

Then, Blue let out a yowl as the fox threw itself at a tree. Blue fell off with some of the fox's fur caught in her claws. The fox turned around, clearly angered. But before it could bite her, Blue clawed the fox's face. It let out a yowl of pain, and Blue quickly got up and sprinted away.

She dodged a tree, jumped over a branch and stopped behind a bush. She took a deep breath and noticed that the fox didn't follow her. I did it!

Exhausted, she began to head back to the den. Mist would probably be worried about her. But I'm all right, I saved that kit, even if I didn't know who it was. And most importantly, I escaped the fox.

She left the forest and soon saw Mist, who was pacing around the den, looking around for her sister. When she saw her, Mist quickly ran toward her.

''Oh, Blue! I was so worried! Where have you- wait, what happened to you?'' Mist shrieked, noticing that Blue's shoulder was bleeding.

She shrugged. ''Oh, I saved a kit from being eaten by a fox.''

''You could've died!'' Mist exclaimed, then sighed. ''Come on, let's get you in the den. You have to rest.'' She meowed.

Blue nodded, too exhausted to speak. She silently followed her sister in their den and collapsed in her nest. Mist began pressing some wet moss on Blue's shoulder. The wounded she-cat closed her eyes. I'm glad Mist is my sister.

When Blue woke up, she didn't bleed anymore. She looked toward her sister's nest and noticed it was empty. She got up and padded out of the den. ''Morning.'' She yawned, looking toward her sister.

''B-Blue, I think we're being attacked.'' Mist whispered.

''What do you mean?'' Blue tilted her head, and then she noticed the two dogs that were growling and heading toward them. She froze.

''Dogs? But I barely escaped a fox yesterday!'' Blue shrieked, but Mist gave a quiet hiss.

''Calm down. We won't fight, but we have to lead them away. You can lead a dog toward the forest, and I'll lead the other one in the opposite direction. Meet you back here.'' She whispered.

Blue nodded, feeling like her heart was about to jump out of her chest. She then got up and unsheathed her claws, sprinting toward a dog.

''Hey, you blind bat! Come on, follow me!'' She yowled and sprinted toward the forest. The dog began barking and followed her.

When Blue entered the forest, she looked behind her. She saw the dog following her, and past the dog, in the distance, she saw her sister running in the opposite direction with the other dog following her. This is perfect!

While dodging trees and bushes, Blue thought about a way to escape the dog. She then had an idea. She ran toward a tree, then quickly climbed it. She looked down at the dog, who was loudly barking. Satisfied, she began throwing small twigs at the dog.

After a while, the dog gave up and left. Blue wanted to climb back down, but one of her left paws slid off the branch. She yowled, desperately trying to dig her claws back in the branch.

Then, Blue fell off the branch. She let out a yowl of pain as her back hit the other branches, then everything went black.
