Bluepaw

Bluepaw silently followed Brightheart back to camp. Today, her mentor taught her the warrior code, about the other Clans and some ThunderClan hunting moves. She padded toward the fresh-kill pile and dropped her two crows there, then padded close to the apprentices' den. She sat down.

That morning, she had a dream where she woke up back in her den, and when she ran outside, she saw Mist. Grief seemed to claw at her heart. Why did that accident have to happen? Oh, my dear sister.. I miss you so much.

Then, she blinked. She was so lost in her thoughts, thinking about her dream, that she didn't even notice what happened in the camp. There was now a fallen tree there, with two cats close to it. She blinked and rushed over.

''Briarpaw? Briarpaw!'' Millie screeched, nudging her daughter.

Bluepaw froze. Longtail and Briarpaw were half-buried under the tree. She shrieked as she realized that the tree fell right over the elders' den, crushing it. She watched in horror as, after a few words, Lionblaze crawled underneath the tree and raised himself up, lifting the tree just a bit. A few cats grabbed Longtail's and Briarpaw's scruff and pulled them away from the tree. After that, Lionblaze ran away from the tree as it fell back on the ground.

''Longtail is dead!'' Mousefur suddenly yowled.

Yowls of shock came from the crowd around the tree. Bluepaw blinked. How did this happen? When? She knew that it has been raining a lot lately, but she never imagined that something like this would ever happen. At first, Brightheart didn't want to take her out for training that morning, but Bluepaw insisted on going. Looks like I made the right choice, after all. I might've also been crushed underneath that tree if I hadn't insisted.

Jayfeather sniffed the air and padded closer to Briarpaw. He then crouched next to the she-cat and began to check her fur.

''Weird.'' He mumbled, but then froze.

 Bluepaw blinked.

Jayfeather unsheathed his claws. ''Briarpaw, I'm going to claw your hind legs. Don't ask why, just tell me what you feel.''

Briarpaw didn't respond. When Jayfeather clawed her legs, the she-cat didn't flinch.

 Bluepaw tilted her head, confused.

''What did you feel?'' Jayfeather asked.

''Nothing.'' Briarpaw whispered. ''I felt nothing.''

''Can you move your back legs?'' Leafpool asked, rushing over.

 ''N-No.'' Briarpaw suddenly meowed.

 Everybody went silent.

''W-Where are my hind legs?'' Briarpaw asked, shivering as Leafpool gave her something to eat.

Lionblaze whispered something in Briarpaw's ears. She then let out a yowl of shock.

Bluepaw blinked and followed the apprentice's back with her eyes until she saw her hind legs. They were stretched out behind her.

When Jayfeather clawed Briarpaw's legs again, Millie let out a hiss and ran toward him. ''Stop hurting her!'' She curled her lip.
