Mistsong

 When will this vigil end?

Mistsong yawned, bored and tired. She had to guard the camp alone and silently for a whole night, because she became a warrior yesterday. However, the vigil was soon going to end, because the sun was starting to show itself at the horizon.

''You can speak now, your vigil is over.''

Mistsong twitched her ears and turned around. She saw Dustpelt, Hazeltail, and Berrynose leaving the camp.

 ''It is?'' Mistsong whispered.

''Of course!'' Hazeltail purred, flicking her tail. ''You can go rest now.''

''All right.'' Mistsong got up, happy, but then blinked. ''Where are you three going?''

''To patrol the border with ShadowClan, obviously.'' Berrynose rolled his eyes.

Dustpelt shot his Clanmate a warning glance, then looked back at Mistsong. ''Go back in camp and rest.''

Mistsong nodded, too exhausted to speak, and turned around, padding back in camp.

Most of the cats were already awake. Brambleclaw was making a hunting patrol not far from the Highledge. Molekit and Cherrykit played in front of the nursery while Poppyfrost watched them. Jayfeather and Briarlight were talking next to the medicine cats' den.

''There you are!'' Bluewing meowed and rushed toward her sister. ''How did the vigil go?''

''It was boring.'' Mistsong whispered. ''And it was so cold outside! I didn't have to do this when I was in the Tribe.''

Suddenly, Bluewing looked saddened. Mistsong blinked, confused. ''What's wrong?''

''You've been.. talking about the Tribe a lot.'' Bluewing whispered. ''Do you miss them?''

Mistsong sighed. ''I kind of do, Bluewing, but trust me, I'm a loyal ThunderClan cat.''

''All right.'' Bluewing meowed, still unconvinced. ''You should go sleep. Brambleclaw might want you for a patrol later.''

Mistsong nodded. ''Will you wake me up if I have to patrol?''

 Bluewing purred. ''Of course.''

''Thank you.'' Mistsong meowed, then turned around and padded toward the warriors' den. Once she went inside, she let herself fall on her nest and fell asleep.

Mistsong opened her eyes and looked around, confused. Instead of being in the warriors' den, she was back in the mountains. Why am I back here? Was it all just a dream?

She started wandering around, looking for the cave or for any cat, but she didn't recognize anything and didn't see anyone. Alarmed, she started running.

She then heard heavy paw steps behind her. She looked past her shoulder and let out a yowl full of shock.

A giant cat was following her. Its fur was the color of sand and it had a round head. It had big paws and it unsheathed sharp claws.
