Water. Earth. Fire. Air. There used to be a time of peace when the Avatar kept balance between the Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation and Air Nomads. But that all changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar mastered all four elements; only he could stop the ruthless firebenders. But when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years have passed, and the Fire Nation is nearing victory in the war. Three years ago, Kyla's father left to aid the Earth Kingdom in the war. Kyla, her mother and her sister stayed on Kyoshi Island; a year later, they got the news of his passing. Some people believe that the Avatar was never reborn into the Air Nomads and that the cycle is broken, but Kyla hasn't lost hope. She still believe that, somehow, the Avatar will return to save the world.

Sena, Kyla's mother, stood in front of her, water on her arms and a serious look on her face.

"Alright Kyla, you can do this." Sena said, readying her arms. Kyla got in a stance and smirked at her mother. She raised her arms, ready for whatever attack her mom was about to throw at her.

Sena sent a blast at Kyla and she grabbed the water and sent one back at her. Sena moved out of the way but was hit from behind by a wave of water. Sena froze her feet into place and raised the water, freezing it into a small pillar. She shot plates of ice at Kyla. She dodged them all and grabbed water and formed two rings around her. She shot icicles at her mom. Sena made a big ice shield and sent water at her. Kyla moved her hands and split the wave coming at her. She rose her hands and froze her mother into place.

"Very well Kyla. You are definitely a master." Sena said. Kyla released the water and bowed to her mother.

"I have a great teacher." Kyla said, smiling at her mom. Suki ran up to the two.

"Mom, Kyla, we caught some trespassers. Might be Fire Nation spies." Suki said. They followed Suki back to the village and saw three people tied up on Avatar Kyoshi's statue. Two wore water tribe clothing and the other orange clothing.

"You three have some explaining to do." Oyaji said.

"And if you don't answer our questions, we're throwing you back in the water with the Unagi." Kyla snickered at how Suki didn't sound threatening at all.

"Show yourselves, cowards!" The Water Tribe boy yelled. The girls removed the blindfolds and the boy stared in disbelief. "Wait a second, there's no way a bunch of girls took us down."

"A bunch of girls huh?" Suki asked, pulling on the boy's collar. "Unagi is gonna eat well tonight."

"No, don't hurt him! He didn't mean it. My brother is just an idiot sometimes." The girl spoke, defending her brother.

"It's my fault. I'm sorry we came here. I wanted to ride the elephant koi." The boy with arrows said.

"Why would you ride the elephant koi?" Kyla asked.

"How do we know you're not Fire Nation spies? Kyoshi stayed out of the war so far. And we intend to keep it that way!" Oyaji stated.

"This island is named for Kyoshi? I know Kyoshi!" The boy with arrows said.

"Ha! How could you possibly know her? Avatar Kyoshi was born here four hundred years ago. She's been dead for centuries."

"I know her because I'm the Avatar." Kyla looked at the boy intently. The clothes he wore weren't seen normally.

"That's impossible! The last Avatar was an airbender who disappeared a hundred years ago." Suki said.

"Suki, look at his clothes. Have you ever seen those clothes before?" Kyla asked.
