A/N
A lil bit of fluff dispersed through this chapter, just a little treat. :) considering it's been to long since I updatedEveryone had been escorted to the gardens. It was a clear fall night, and thousands of stars could be seen. Patton grabbed Logan's hand and took him to a secluded porch swing, one where you could see the stars. Patton asked more and more questions about the night sky, and Logan happily answered them.
Janus took off, with Remus close behind, in search of a river. He knew there was one there, he just had to find it. When he did, he found a nice clearing and sat down. He had figured he would do this alone, but in an unseen turn of events there was a Geminosian prince right beside him.
Unseen and unwanted was how the kings and queens described it. Just as King Edward was ranting about how his sons were being disrespectful to his plans, and how they couldn't marry princes from the east, Thomas piped in.
"Why not Edward. That's what this dinner is about, right? Letting them decide who they wish to marry? And when was it ever decided to be divided from the east? When was it decided it was ok to betrothe your sons, all of you! Have you forgotten the meaning of the Prandium Est Sors?" Thomas finished and looked around. An uncomfortable silence filled the gazebo they all sat in.
Virgil had his head rested upon Roman's shoulder. He had been having a surprisingly good time, but all good things must come to an end I guess. His nerves that had temporarily left him crept back. He liked Roman, he liked Roman a lot, Roman seemed to like him too. And even though he hasn't said a word to Janus this entire night, he still figured that that match would hold out.
Roman must have noticed that Virgil had stiffened up, because the next thing he said was,"Hey, are you ok, you seem worried."
"I'm just thinking. Do you think they'll take our choices into consideration, or do you think I'll marry Janus, and you Logan?" Virgil looked into Roman's eyes. Just as comforting as before. And his smile, his smile almost made Virgil forget his worries. Almost.
"I don't think our parents will be happy, but I trust Thomas. I think he'll do what he thinks is best for not only Simul, but also us." Roman rapped his arm around Virgil, pulling him closer as they stared into the night sky.
Patton's eyes reminded Logan of the stars he so loved to read about. Patton and Logan had been talking for hours, and neither of them were tired of it. Logan knew he would much rather be with Patton then with Roman, but that's not what his mom wanted. But his mom wasn't the one finalizing the matches Logan reminded himself, hopefully Thomas would be fair to the princes.
Thomas has no intention of putting the princes with anyone else then who they wanted to be with. Not only would the kingdoms still benefit, but these matches didn't have "revolution in the near future" written all over them.
Remus had his head in Janus' lap. They had talked about lessons, siblings, and basically anything that came to mind, but now they sat in a comfortable silence. Remus watched the trees sway and listen to the river flow as Janus played with his hair. This night had been better than he thought, and he didn't have to set anything on fire for that to be true. Janus really was special.
All six enjoyed the moments of calm, till they were all called into the caste. The begrudgingly got up and got ready to end off the night.
