I try to focus my eyes, but the bitter alcohol was far stronger. As I peer into the distance, I see Victor and Dante approach. The hand in front of me continues to try and drag me into the room of men.I watch, half dizzy, as Dante punches the person in the face. The grip on my arm loosens and with one swift move I'm hanging over a shoulder. I look up and watch Dante follow.
That must mean I was on Victor's shoulder. I let my head fall limp and doze off.
I wake up. It wasn't the normal soft lighting. The heat poured the window. I had slept to midday. That disgusted me. I hated being changed into nightwear without my permission. This royal dressing style was not my type of clothing
The only time I was allowed to freely wear what I wanted was at breakfast the first morning. Since then, Victor has been so picky about anything and everything I chose.
Victor sat at the edge of the bed. This time, he was on the same side as me. There was no mirror, even if I were to speak to his reflection like I usually do. He rubbed his forehead as if he had been sitting here the whole night sleepless.
He looked disturbed. As if I summoned something bad. My head hurt more than ever and I could barely open my eyes. He tilts his head up and looks at me.
"You're awake," he announces
"No, I'm dead."
He doesn't say anything. "Are you always watching me like a hawk when I sleep? Like do you have nothing else to do in the mornings?" I ask.
"Why did you get drunk."
"I was at a club, why can't I drink?"
"Because, we weren't there to drink. We were there for different reasons."
"I wasn't going to just sit around getting stared at by a bunch of random men. There wasn't a single female in that room!"
"Well, there's a reason for why I had you under Dante's watch and sent you with 2 guards."
"I had the option to drink, so I did. Besides, I only had one drink. I would have been fine."
"A Negroni. One Negroni made you that drunk. You were about to pass out."
"I don't drink much, but I guarantee I am of age. "
"I didn't get to finish my conversation with the men because you were about to pass out," he paused, "As usual."
I roll my eyes.
I felt bad through. I wasn't a guest or a hostage right now. I was a problem. A burden for Victor to carry so Alexander doesn't kill any of his men.
He crosses his arms and sighs. "Rest, we'll go shopping for gowns some other day before the party."
I watch him leave. The guilt pretty much took over, and with out a moment of thought my voice echoes through the room. "Victor," I call, but in the room it was merely a whisper.
His head peers through the doorway. "I'm sorry," manage to choke out.
I see the slightest grin tug at the right side of his face and then we walks back out.
