The guards on the first floor showed up with their guns ready to shoot. I really thought I had them knocked out. I guess unless the sleep you refer to is death, you're going to have to wake up.The begin firing and I dodge as many as I can, until Victor steps in and takes over for me. One of them aims for my foot and I hop out of the way, the bullet hitting Alexander.
Straight.
In.
The.
Heart.Emotional heartbreak hurts more. He deserved it and I didn't even feel one bit of pain watching him gasp for breaths.
I push Victor to grab Isabel and for us to head out. Markie showed up with a couple officers too.
"How did he-"
"The flashlight," Victor grins.
The bullets fly everywhere, my gun was running out. I shot my last bullet. Out of nowhere, a couple more guards arrived. I didn't know where they were coming from.
I shouldn't be as excited as I was, but this was my first shootout. Quite fascinating if I have to be honest- minus the dead bodies.
I look ahead and watch as Victor leads Isabel out. I see a mirror, a little bit past their bodies. A guard, aimed straight for Isabel. I didn't have anything to attack with. Whatever happens, it was worth it. These past weeks were the last adventure I needed.
Without even a moment more of hesitation, I lunge towards Isabel, and suddenly I feel a sharp pain. I couldn't even figure out where I had been hit, but I collapse, my back slamming onto the ground.
I could hear the panic and I hear another shot. The guard falls.
As I close me eyes slowly I thought of the darkness behind the blindfold. I winced in pain as I laid there. Alexander was dead, his body laying right beside my feet, Isabel was taken to safety by Markie.
"I don't even know her name," Isabel's feeble voice choked. I let out a small laugh, turned into a cough and more pain. She'll know of me. They all have plenty to tell.
I saw one person hover over me, which then became two. Everything started to blur.
"Aura, wake up," two voices called, but the sound drained.
I opened my mouth to say something, but all I did was heave out another cough.
I grasped onto the hand by me, as tight as I could.
I knew that it was dangerous. I knew what was coming for me. But Fate can't be escaped. The darkness mocks you.
The darkness behind the blindfold.
I was just going to be asleep. Beside my mama.
"Mama," I manage to croak out and then everything went black.
