She had met her friend at the café, her hands nervously wrapped around the fat free coffee. Black. The only way she would have it.
Her friend sat across from her at the table and began pulling his gloves off. "You actually came," he huffed to her. She nodded and stared into the black coffee, still untouched.
"Yes," she said numbly. "Of course I did, Hunter." She sighed and pushed the warm mug away from her and stared outside to the snowy sidewalk. "It snowed. How did you get here?"
"I walked."
"Of course..."
"Ash, lo-" she raised her hand, cutting him off before her could continue his sentence. "Ash..."
"No, Hunter. I didn't come here to get nagged, and if that's all you're going to do, I'm leaving." She being to stand only to be cut off by Hunter. He stood a head taller than her as she looked up to him. "Move, Hunter."
"Dammit Ash, no. Sit the fuck down. I want to talk, not fucking 'nag' you," Hunter said roughly. Ash crossed her arms an sat down reluctantly. "Thank you," he sat down again. "You're stubborn, you know."
Ash nodded and moved her hand in the 'get-on-with-it' gesture. Hunter sighed.
"Ash, look. I wanted to talk because... Well, your mom called and told me... Told me you've lost weight." Hunter swallowed loudly and Ash tensed in her seat. She stared out the window idly.
"So?"
"So, I care. Talk to me. What's going on?"
"There's nothing to talk about!" Ash yelled. The eyes of the café bored into her. In a more quiet and harsh tone, Ash hissed to Hunter. "And I'm leaving. Good bye, Hunter. "
He watched her leave the café, and sighed as she stumbled through the snow.
"God dammit, Ash."
