"I can't believe you convinced me to eat that muffin the other night..." Ash had been very talkative the way home, and Hunter had listened to every word in search for something that brought back a time she was happy with herself.
"I didn't, I made a deal with you," Hunter said as he jammed the key into the lock. He was shaking the key to twist it and got it half way unlocked when Shelly opened the door.
"I was home you know."
"Hey Shelly!" Ash peaked around Hunter and waved. Shelly's face formed a surprised 'o', and she began laughing.
"Ashy!" Shelly squealed and threw herself at Ash. Hunter shook his head and walked into the house, leaving the two girls to talk on the porch for several minutes.
Hunter's mind was set on one thing : make a salad.
Hunter was starving, but Ash was killing herself. As he shrugged his bag off in the living room and made his way to the kitchen, he sighed. This is gonna be hard, he thought. Hunter grabbed a large mixing bowl and opened the fridge, pulling out two bags from the crisper filled with salad.
Though he hasn't been the healthiest eater on the planet, he could respect a good salad. Especially for Ash. He opened the two bags and mixed them together, adding a variety of vinegars and dressings.
Ash and Shelly had made their way into the house and had sat on the couch talking girl talk when Hunter walked into the room. In his hands were two forks and a giant mixing bowl of salad.
"Shelly," Hunter looked towards the blond bobble head. She gazed up at him in confusion. "Go do your homework. I have to talk to Ash for a bit." Shelly grumbled an 'okay' and dragged her feet upstairs.
"Hunter," Ash glared at him a he sat down. "What's that?"
"A salad," he set the salad between them and handed her a fork.
"I..." Ash stared at the fork in her ham. And moved her other hand to her stomach, her body tensing at the realization of how hungry she was. "I'm not..."
"Shut up and take a fucking bite," Hunter groaned. Ash bit her lip and shook her head, setting the fork down. Hunter closed his eyes and exhaled loudly before he smiled and took the salad bowl into his hands and dug his fork into the crisp lettuce.
Ash watched him take a bite and felt her stomach growl as her eyes stared longingly into the bowl.
"Your favorite thing to do," Hunter swallowed. "When you came over was eat the healthiest thing and make it the most unhealthy thing. That's what I've done, and let me say," He aimed the fork prongs into the bowl. "This is delicious."
"Fuck..." Ash breathed. She took the fork and moved next to Hunter. He turned the bowl towards her, letting her take a forkful and shove it into her mouth. "You forgot the 'Bac-o-bits'," Ash said as she took another bite from the bowl. Hunter smiled softly and moved the bowl to the coffee table.
His own stomach rumbled, but he wanted to feed Ash before anyone else. He stood and walked into the kitchen. The Bac-o-bits were in the fridge and as he walked into the living room with them in hand, he saw Ash's skinny arm wrapped around the mixing bowl with her face close.
Hunter chuckled and knelt down in front of her. opening the Bac-o-bits and dumping them into the bowl. Ash moaned softly and stirred the bowl, her eyes glancing nervously at Hunter.
"Keep eating," Hunter motioned for her to keep her pace. She slowly took another bite into her mouth, a bit of ranch rolling down her lip. Ash licked her bottom lip and smiled weakly, putting another bite of salad into her mouth. "You said you had a favor to ask?"
Ash nodded and swallowed the bite in her mouth. "Yes, I need help on some papers and stuff. I was wondering if you could help out with that," she finished with another bite of the salad, and Hunter grinned.
"Yeah, I'll help."
"Good."
Hunter moved next to Ash and began to pick at the bowl with his own fork. He smiled to himself as he watched Ash giggle and chew her food.
"I'm..." Hunter smiled at the salad. "I'm glad you're eating right now..."
"It was hard to resist. My..." Ash cleared her throat. "Lunch... Wasn't very filling."
"I know."
Ash took another bite an set her fork in the bowl. She stretched back, her stomach bulging from the salad.
"There was something funny in the salad..." Ash said once her stretch was over. Hunter moved the bowl to the table and leaned back.
"Like what?"
"Cheesy... It tasted like bad cheese."
"I put blue cheese in it."
"Oh god!" Ash began laughing and lanes forward. "Blue cheese is nasty!" Hunter smiled.
"That's why I put it in there," Hunter ran his hand up Ash's back, feeling each spinal bone in her back. He kept himself from pulling away and ran his hand in circular motions.
Ash looked up to Hunter an gave a weak smile, the happiness covering the sad coming through her eyes.
"I missed this..."
A/N : am I stopping these in okay spots? xD I feel like I'm leaving cliff hangers for the hour it takes me to write.
You know, I only write for 15 minutes out of the hour between chapter posts. .-. I like crayons.
