"You know, it's difficult to talk to her anymore." Hunter sat next to Eli at the lunch table, muffin in hand.

"Who?"

"Ash."

"Oh."

Hunter sighed as he took a bite from the muffin. Eli was staring across the lunch room, and Hunter followed his gaze.

The black hair stood out to him a his breath caught in his throat. She was thinner then Saturday.

"Ash," he whispered. Eli shook his head and looked back down to his food. "I'll be right back," Hunter gave Eli a pat on the back, stood up, and began walking to Ash.

He called her name and she turned to look at him, grimaced, and turned away. Hunter frowned and walked past several people to stop beside the frail Ash.

"What do you want, Hunter?"

"Ash, I just want you back."

She huffed loudly and turned to look up at Hunter. He choked on words as her sad blue eyes gazed up to his green. "What about me do you... 'Want back'?" Ash took a step forward in the line.

"Just you, Ash. You've turned into something you're not..."

"Well, isn't that nice." Ash said and took another step forward. "You actually care about me."

"Of course I do," Hunter grimaced. He took a step with her. "Why wouldn't I?" Ash scoffed.

"From what you've said in your past, you never liked a girl who couldn't eat right." She said. Hunter looked at her wrist, barely showing under the black sweater. He took her wrist in his hand and grasped tightly to find his finger meeting well past his thumb.

"I never liked them because I never thought my best friend would turn into one. Never liked them because I prefer a girl with chunk and curves. Not jutting ribs," Hunter said in frustration. Ash glared at Hunter and yanked her wrist from his grip.

"Don't touch me, Hunter."

"What the hell happened between us?"

"You started getting nosey!"

"Because I care on what's going on in your life and why you're turning down nearly every piece of food offered to you!" Hunter yelled. The lunch room had gotten quiet and Ash was red, her eyes flickering around Hunter's face.

"Just go, Hunter."

Hunter sighed again as Ash walked away from him and left the lunch room.
