Chapter 2

Meis POV
Consciousness slowly started to consume me. I slowly open my eyes to feel a sharp pain on the side of my head. I groan and start to sit up. My vision was blurry at first but slowly cleared up the more I adjusted to my surroundings.

I looked to my right and saw a man with black straight hair, and a tiny purple mark by his eye, accompanied by a beautiful woman with white hair.

"Hello young child, how are you feeling?" The man spoke. His voice was so calming and gentle, I almost felt like I was in no danger at all. "I hurt...a lot...where am I?" I asked, slightly overwhelmed being in a completely unfamiliar area. "You are at the demon slayer headquarters. One of the Pillars found you last night in the woods in very bad condition." The man explained calmly. "And who are you?" I asked getting a better view of everything. "My name is Kagaya Ubuyashiki, but please call me Oyakata, and this is my wife Amane. May we ask what your name is child?"

"Yamamoto Mei, from the Yamamoto clan...wait my clan!" I explained the last part only to stop and start coughing. His wife handed me water with worry. "Please be careful dear. You're badly injured." I apologized and thanked her for her kindness before a tear then fell down my face when I processed everything from last night. "What's wrong dear?" The man named Kagaya asked. "M-my clan...was murdered. Every single one of the members..."

"Oh, dear...I'm so sorry...was it a demon?" He asked. "Yes....it was..." I mumbled sniffling a little. "Let me ask you something. Would you be willing to become a demon slayer, and get justice for your family?"

"Yes. Please. I'd like that sir." "Okay, once you recover we can send you to someone to train you." He said. I nodded my head and thanked him.

~Time skip~
When I was fully recovered they found me a master who was a former Sun pillar. His name is Yuichi Suzuki. I called him Suzuki-san or just master.

I've been with him for almost 6 months and I've mastered and perfected all the forms and everything. Now, I'm just working on extra strength and more stamina and endurance.

The training was very hard and painful, but I knew in the end would be worth it. The training would be so intense I would occasionally throw up blood or pass out from overworking myself.

~Time skip~
When I completed the last task he wanted me to do I was able to go to the final selection. After a full year of hard and intense training.

Before leaving, master hugged me and wished me luck before my long journey that I would possibly not return from.

When I got there there were about thirty people there. Two girls explained the rules and everything then it began.

Ten minutes in I was attacked by four demons. I easily wiped them out with the Sixth form: Saturn Rings.

I was able to walk for a little bit and thought about a plan. I would sleep during the day and also try to eat then too.

Just then a group of demons came after me. I easily took them out as well and was able to save a boy's life. For the time being, I climbed a tree and sat there.

~Time skip~
I had finally made it to the end. I sigh in relief and waited for everyone else. Only four people came. They were dirty and scratched up, and I didn't have a speck of dirt on me. They looked at me shocked, but I just shrugged.

The girls came and explained the ranks and everything and we had received ores and our crows. I named mine Feya. That was also the name of my best friend.

I started my journey back to my master after this selection.

After only a few months of missions, Oyakata-sama promoted me to a pillar, but they wanted to keep it secret for a while.
