Chapter 8

It's now been a few weeks since Mei was injured. She's now perfectly fine. Mei has a faster recovery time than normal people.

Mei was sitting in her room watching the sunset. She sat there quietly in Kimono enjoying the beautiful mixed colors and the nice relaxing breeze gently blowing her hair. A small smile appeared as she felt very relaxed. That was until Feya had a certain message.

"Message! Message! Report to Oyakata-sama immediately! Report to Oyakata-sama immediately!" Feya said. "Alright. I'm going." She sighed jumping down from her roof and quiet joy fixing her hair and changing into her uniform and grabbing her sword and putting on her mask. She ran out of her estate and went to their meeting place.

She arrived and also saw Uzui there. She sat next to him and quietly waited for the well-respected man to arrive.

When he did they both bowed and greeted him. "Hello Mei. Hello Tengen. I'm sorry to disturb your evening, but on Mountain *pick a name* many people were Mizunoto and Mizuno ranks and they haven't come back or reported anything. I would like you two to check it out please." "Yes sir." The two pillars said. They waited for him to leave before immediately running full speed in that direction.

As soon as they were by the mountain they could smell blood. With Mei's excellent hearing she could hear distant screaming.

They ran into the mountain and were swarmed by demons. The two immediately took them out. Then they started to run again. "You know Yamamoto-san. It may not be very flamboyant of me to ask, but how old are you exactly?" "Twenty...what about you?" Mei asked. "Twenty-three," Tengen responded. Mei just nodded and kept focus on the mission. They found many dead demon slayers. Mei felt a little bit of sadness in her heart. "May you Rest In Peace. Thank you for your hard work." She said quietly passing many more bodies.

"This is a big mountain. How about we split up?" "Okay, I'll flamboyantly take the east." "Alright. I'll take the west." The two split up quickly. Mei jumped and went from tree to tree. She started to hear distant screaming. She arrived and saw a badly injured girl with a badly injured arm and a leg trying to fight off four demons that surrounded her. "Tenth form: Meteor shower!" Mei called taking out all four demons at the same time. The demons then slowly started to disappear in front of the girl. Her eyes widen, but she had a look of relief on her face.

Mei jumped down from the tree in front of the girl when more demons appeared. Now there were ten. "Sixth form: Saturn Rings," Mei called taking them all out. The young demon slayer stayed behind her. Just then a healthy demon slayer appeared next to Mei. "Can you fight?" She asked not looking at his condition yet. "Yes! I just got here." "Okay, pick up the girl and follow me." "Yes ma'am." He replied picking up the girl. "You stay on foot. I'll keep watch from above." Mei said jumping back into the trees. They ran in the same direction and Mei made sure to take out every demon in sight.

The two pillars had fought the demons until sunrise. The boy was still carrying the girl on his back. I don't understand why there were so many damn demons on one mountain. Mei thought.

By now many Kakushi was helping all the alive, injured, and dead. The boy handed the girl to a Kakushi for immediate medical attention.

Mei finally met with Uzui again. She sighed when she saw him. "God, why were there so many damn demons," Mei complained. Uzui agreed with her and was about to say something until he was stopped by a crow. "Message! Message! Uzui Tengen! Yamamoto Mei! Message from Oyakata-sama! Head to the South East Village! Head to South East village! Suspicious activity there! Demon terrorizing children!" He basically yelled at them. They both nodded and started to head to their next mission.

They arrived at the village and it was about 4 PM. They went on a random rooftop to relax from the long night and the long journey. "Hey, are you hungry?" Uzui asked. "Starving," Mei replied with a sigh. Her stomach quietly growled after. "Anything, in particular, you want to eat?" "I mean I don't really care." "Well here...what's your favorite food?" "Udon." She said. "Then we shall flamboyantly have Udon." He said confidently. "Alright." Mei smiled.
They found a restaurant that had what they were looking for and ordered a few bowls. While eating they talked a little and got to know a little bit more about each other.

Finally, the sun was setting. They watched from the rooftops looking for anything suspicious. It was about 10 PM when they sensed a demon. They looked at each other and nodded. The demon Lured the child away from her parents into an alleyway with a candy bar and yellow balloons. The demon was about to strike when Mei jumped down and quickly and easily sliced the demon's neck with Pluto's drift.

The mission was complete.

The two went to a nearby tiny hotel. They went to the front desk. "Hello, do you have a room available?" "Yes, we have one room available." "One?" "Yes, is that a problem?" "No, no. It's fine." The woman nodded and handed us a key. I gave her some money and we went up to the room. Of course, it was a single bed.

The two awkwardly stared at the single bed. "I can take the floor, and you can have the bed," Uzui said. "I'd feel really bad though..." Mei replied. "Do you want to share then?" "There's not enough room..." "Sure there is. You can lay on top of me. No problem." He said with confidence. Mei suddenly got really flustered at the idea, but for some reason agreed without thinking it through.

She showered and changed into her uniform again, but just wore her button-up white undershirt and her skirt and left uniform top, her haori, and her mask off. Then Uzui showered and everything as well. They had previously gotten a toothbrush and things like that earlier.

Mei brushed and dried her hair and threw it up into a messy bun she barely tried on so It wouldn't risk getting in Uzuis face. He laid down and she looked at him unsure. "Are you sure you're comfortable with this?" Mei asked again. "Flamboyantly sure! Are you comfortable with this?" "I feel a little awkward about it, but that will surely go away," Mei said.

She slowly got on top of him and laid down. She could feel his well-built chest against hers. Her head was resting on his chest and she could hear his calm heartbeat. Her face started to change into a light shade of red.

Uzui put his arms around Mei to secure her. He also did one unexpected thing. He kissed her forehead. "Night Yamamoto-san."

When he did that Mei's face turned a very dark shade of red. "N-Night Uzui-san." She said very flusteredly. She could hear a soft chuckle come from him as he fell asleep.

When she woke up she was still on top of him. He was still soundly sleeping. Her face turned red at the brief memory of last night.

It wasn't long until Uzui woke up as well. "Morning." He said. "Morning," Mei replied back sitting up.

She got off of him and showered and got ready for the day putting her uniform on completely along with her mask, and she made her bun look a lot better and put her cherry blossom hairpin in.

When they were ready to go they double-checked all their things and went back to headquarters.

They got back and reported everything to Oyakata-sama and then were able to go back to their own estates. On the way, she ran into Muichiro. "Good afternoon Muichiro-Kun. What brings you over here?" "I was with Kochou-san getting a checkup." "Oh, I see." "Did you just get back from a mission?" "Yeah. I did."

He just nodded and went on his way again. Mei arrived back at her estate and flopped on her bed with a heavy sigh.
