Madison hadn't been asleep for long. Only about an hour. The men she saw earlier plagued her dreams. It was still dark out when she exited her tent. She looked around the camp, seeing the guards at their posts, tightly gripping their guns, people making weapons, other were eating berries and nuts.
Her eyes met Bellamy's as he stood behind Jasper and Raven. He looked like he was going to say something to her, but she averted her eyes and made a beeline for the dropship, to treat Myles.
A gunshot filled the air, making Madison's soul leave her body for a split second. She looked around in panic, thinking they were under attack. When her eyes found Sterling, clutching his gun eyes wide in panic, her heart slowed down a bit.
'Hey! What the hell is the matter with you?' Bellamy marched up to Sterling who was visibly shaking. 'I-I'm sorry, man, I fell asleep. I've been on watch all day.' Bellamy grabbed the boy's jacket collar. 'We've all been on watch all day! That bullet was one less dead grounder!'
'Bell, you're scaring people.' Bellamy locked eyes with his sister. 'They should be scared! The bomb on the bridge bought us some time to prepare, but that time is up! The grounders are out there right now, waiting for us to leave and picking us off one by one when we do! Clarke, Finn, and Monty are gone, probably dead, and if you want to be next, I can't stop you, but no guns are leaving this camp! This camp is the only thing keeping us alive!' He looked around before barking one last order. 'Get back to work!'
Madison walked up to Sterling, placing her hand on his shoulder. 'Go get some sleep. Monroe,' the girl was by their side in the blink of an eye, 'take his post.' Monroe nodded and Sterling passed her his gun. 'I have to go treat Myles. I'll see you guys later.' And Madison was off.
She pulled back the parachute, Bellamy's body coming into view. He was hunched over a table, analyzing the mini replica of their camp.He turned his head when he heard footsteps. Madison brought her gaze to Myles, who was laying on a cot, groaning in pain. She quickly tied her hair into a ponytail and walked over to him.
'Hey, sorry I didn't come earlier. I was too exhausted to help.' Myles smiled through the pain. 'No problem, doc.' Madison smiled and looked at his shoulder and knee. She frowned when she saw that the arrows were ready to be pushed out.
'I ripped them.' Madison eyed Bellamy. 'How did you know you had to do that?' The man scratched the back of his head, not looking at her. 'I um, I heard you talk to Monroe about it once. You were telling her that, the best way to remove an arrow, is to rip it in half and push the arrowhead out on the other side.'
Madison nodded and tried to hide her smile. 'Okay, Myles. I'm gonna get those arrows out of you.' The boy nodded. She placed a knife into a small fire next to her, and cleaned her hands with moonshine. She peeled away the wrap around the arrow in his shoulder, also cleaning the area, apologizing every time Myles winced.
While the knife heated up, Madison explained the procedure to Myles. 'I'm going to have to push the arrowhead out on the other side. It's going to hurt, you're probably going to cry, but that's fine. Then I'll have to cauterize the wounds, which is gonna hurt like a bitch, and the smell will have us both gagging.' They both laughed lightly. 'I love your doctor talk.'
