Madison had been sitting in the same position for hours. Knees pulled up to her chest, eyes set on the door. She watched through the small window as a figure in a blue hazmat suit took Harper out of her room and she hasn't returned since.

Suddenly, an old man came through the door. 'Miss Kane, sorry for the wait. We had some complications we needed to take care of.' After the man walked in, he was followed by a female dressed in a lab coat and two men dressed in guards uniforms. The man approached the girl, taking in her red rimmed eyes.

'Dante Wallce.' He introduced himself and raised his hand. Madison shyly shook it as the lady walked towards the other side of her bed. 'This is Dr. Tsing.' The woman gave Madison a warm smile, but the girl could see right through it. 'How do you know my name?' Her voice was scratchy due to the lack of use.

Dante sat on the bed next to her, as Dr. Tsing shone a small flashlight in her eyes. 'Your people.' Madison sat up slightly. 'M-my people? They're here? Where am I, anyway?' The man and Dr. Tsing shared a look.

'Welcome to Mount Weather, Madison.' Her breath caught in her throat. 'M-mount Weather?' Dante nodded. 'Yes. Your people told us this is where your ship was supposed to land.'

'All clear, Mr. President.'

President?

'Thank you, Dr. Tsing.' The woman nodded and left. Dante stood up and approached the painting. 'One of my favorites.' Madison eyed him carefully. 'How many of my people are here?' she asked warily.

'We rescued 48, including you.' Madison shook her head. 'No, half of them are still out there.' Dante faced her. 'We sent a team to look for them just 30 minutes ago. I'll let you know immediately if they find anything.' The girl nodded.

'Where's my necklace? It was my mom's wedding ring, the last thing I have from her.' The President's eyes saddened. 'I'm sorry, Madison. But we can't let contaminated items in the mountain.' He saw her confused expression. 'Since we have been living underground for the last 97 years, living off of filtered air, the air from outside is toxic for us. If anyone opened the door, our entire population would be dead within minutes.' The girl nodded and Dante looked at the guards, nodding.

They walked out and when they came back, they were carrying a brown, wooden dresser. They placed it in the middle of the room and opened it. Madison gawked, admiring the clothes inside. The President smiled at her reaction. 'Get dressed and meet me outside. I'll take you to your people.' Madison eyed the big camera.

'Don't worry. It's turned off.' Madison didn't move a muscle until she was alone again. She slowly got up from the bed and grabbed the sheets, placing them over the camera. She didn't trust them.

She walked back to the dressed, running her fingers over the soft materials of the clothes. She picked a black tank top, a pair of black jeans, an oversized black and blue flannel and a pair of high top white sneakers.. She left the flannel open and straightened the collar.
