🥀"I know you're trying your best and trying your hardest. So I'm here to tell you that it's enough."🥀
Yaku shook as he watched Lev continue to pull on the door, cutting his hands up even more.
'Please, somebody show up please,' Yaku pleaded a silent plea as he waited for someone, ANYONE, to appear and help them get Bokuto out of the car. It had been 5 minutes since he had called Kuroo and the police. Actual medical and professional help wouldn't be there for another 20 minutes, since they were on the outskirts of town. But Kuroo would be closer.
Yaku looked up to the sound of screeching tires hitting a sharp curb, and looked up to see a familiar red Hellcat come to a screeching stop.
Kuroo had made it.
Without saying a word, Kuroo ran over to where Lev was and began pulling with him. Akaashi quickly walked up, and watched as the boys pulled on the door. He could feel himself slipping into a panic, but he stayed strong, for Kenma and Kuroo. Seeing Bokuto unconscious in that car made Akaashi feel sick.
Kenma slowly walked up to where Akaashi and Yaku were standing. Kenma tugged on Akaashi's shirt, and nodded towards Yaku, who was hyperventilating with tears continuously running down his face. Akaashi nodded to show he understood. Both of them held their arms out, and embraced Yaku in a much needed hug. Regardless of their relationship with Bokuto, Yaku was still his friend and loved him just as much as the next person. They knew it had to be traumatizing for Yaku and Lev to find him that way, especially right after the incident with Inuoka.
Suddenly, the sound of metal crashing onto the ground filled their ears.
The door was off.
Akaashi watched as Lev reached into the car and undid the seatbelt holding Bokuto in, making sure to catch him so he wouldn't hit the ground head first. Carefully, Kuroo and Lev pulled Bokuto's limp body out of the car.
The three boys ran over, and Yaku immediately began to tend to Bokuto, with Kenma and Akaashi close to his sides. All three of them were taking a health and nursing program, with Yaku further ahead of the setters due to him being a third year.
First, Yaku needed to check his pulse. Everyone held their breath as the blond boy placed his fingers to Bokuto's neck. Lev watched Yaku diligently, while Kuroo hugged Akaashi. Kenma, too scared to look at the moment, buried his head in Akaashi's shoulder.
"..."
"He has a pulse. A weak one, but its there."
Everyone took a sigh of relief except for Akaashi. Kenma looked up at the boy's tear stained eyes.
"It's weak, so I know you're still worried. Breathe Akaashi. He'll be fine. We're gonna make it. All of us."
Akaashi softened at these words. 'Bokuto has a chance.'
After looking over Bokuto's body, Yaku and Kenma discussed quietly. Kenma ran to get items out of Kuroo's car. After Yaku whispers something in Kuroo's ear, they both walk over to Akaashi and lead him away from the scene.
"Wha-what are you guys doing?! I need to be with Bokuto!" Akaashi tried to protest but failed.
Yaku nodded at Kuroo as he walked back over to Bokuto. Kuroo turned to Akaashi and enveloped him in a hug.
"Akaashi, go ahead and cry some of it out."
"What? Kuroo what the hell? I don't need to cry! I need Bokuto to live!" Akaashi screamed in response.
Kuroo pulled away to look at Akaashi but didn't break the hug.
"Akaashi, in all honesty, Yaku says things aren't looking good for Bokuto," Kuroo started gently speaking as the sound of sirens in the distance invaded their ears. "You've been trying to stay strong for us, letting it all build up. But what the doctor says along with all of this right now may be too much for you to handle at once. I want everyone to be okay. Especially you. Yeah, we're all worried about Bokuto. But it won't help if you worry yourself to death. I know how you are when stuff hits you too hard. So please, cry some of it out before we get to the hospital and get the second wave of news. I'm here Akaashi. Let it out."
Kenma organized the scene a little to make it easier for the authorities. Yaku cleaned and bandaged Lev's wounds. But Kuroo paid attention to none of this. He didn't care at the moment. Whenever Bokuto wasn't around, Kuroo knew he trusted him to take care of Akaashi and Kenma, just like Kuroo expected him to do the same. So that's what he planned to do.
As the sound of the sirens filled his ears, Akaashi's sobs began to fade away into the sound. With puffy eyes and blurry vision, Akaashi looked up through the blinding red and blue lights just in time to see the paramedics begin to take Bokuto away. Kenma walked over to where the two were standing, and the two opened their arms to let Kenma melt into their hug.
"He'll make it guys," Kuroo reassured them as he watched as the ambulance sped down the empty road.
"Yeah, he always does."
