🥀"Some family members and friends will form the best team you could ever have."🥀
"Suga-San!"
Hinata came running full speed into the gym. Luckily, Suga turned around and was able to catch Hinata, or else they both would've fallen over.
"What's going on Hinata?" Suga giggled as he hugged the boy. He thought Hinata has just missed him that day, like he tends to do with random members of the team on random days. But Suga's smile soon faded when he felt warm tears seep into his shirt.
"Hinata? What's wrong?" Suga asked, starting to get worried. Had something happened to one of his baby crows that he was unaware of? Did someone hurt Hinata? What was wrong?
Hinata pulled his now puffy and flushed face out of Sugawara's chest and looked up at him.
"Kenma just text me. He said Lev accidentally hurt Inuoka, and Inuoka is in critical condition in the hospital! And Lev felt so bad about what he did, that he quit the volleyball team! He just quit! Two of their amazing middle blockers just... just... gone!" Hinata hadn't taken a solid breath up to this point and was gasping for air while choking on his tears.
Suga took a second to process everything Hinata had said. 'Critical condition? Nekoma just lost two team members?' Suga looked down at the boy who had his arms around Suga's waist. Suga bent down so he'd be eye level with Hinata. He knew Hinata really looked up to both Lev and Inuoka, so he tried to be cautious with his words.
"Breathe Hinata. Everything's gonna be fine. I'm sure Inuoka will get better soon enough. And I trust that Yaku is doing everything he can to get Lev back on the team. He'd never let him go so easily..." Suga averted his eyes from Hinata's hopeful face, as he recalled past conversations he and Yaku had about both Inuoka and Lev. Yaku loves them both with his whole heart. "They'll both be back on the court to challenge you in no time."
Hinata's eyes lit up to this news. 'If Suga says everything's gonna be okay then surely it will,' he thought to himself. "Thanks Suga-San! You're the best senpai ever! But don't tell Nishinoya and Tanaka I told you that," he whispered to the third year setter.
"Hey! We heard that!" Tanaka and Noya shouted as they ran towards the orange haired boy.
"Oops! Gotta blast Suga-San!" Hinata sang as he ran towards the gym doors.
Suga couldn't help but smile. He loved the team with his whole heart, and he knew they loved him too. But deep down he felt like they thought differently than that. He sometimes thought everyone secretly hated him, but he tried to push those thoughts aside. That is, until he got home at least.
When practice was over, Suga walked home alone. He walked home alone almost everyday, since the rest of the team lived west of the school. When he reached his apartment, he took off his shoes and greeted his dog, Mai. After feeding her and changing clothes, he went to start on his homework. While working, he received a text. Suga picked up his phone and read the contact name. 'Semi Eita.' Suga smiled.
"Hey cuzzo! How's it going?"
"Everything's fine. Do you need something?" Suga replied. Despite them being cousins, Suga and Semi were more like brothers. Some even said they looked alike.
"No, I don't need anything. I just wanted to check on you. Are you...okay?"
Suga was used to this question. Semi asked him that same question everyday for 2 years now. Suga couldn't blame him though. He understood why Semi would worry, especially after that night he almost lost him.
"I'm fine Semi, as always. Thanks for asking!💙"
Semi knew Suga didn't like to express his feelings unless he was really hurting. So Semi made him promise that if he was truly okay, to sign his text with a blue heart. But if something was wrong, even slightly, Suga had to sign the message with a white heart. He didn't have to say what was wrong, as long as he put a white heart, Semi would be there as quick as he could, no questions asked. Suga appreciated this greatly, since he didn't have to explain anything with words. Just one emoji and Semi would be by his side. Just like family was supposed to do.
"Alright, just checking. I'm probably gonna come visit this weekend if I can wiggle myself out of morning practice. Is it okay if I bring Shirabu along? He really needs to get away from Shiratorizawa for a while."
"Sure, that's fine! Is everything okay with him?" Suga asked. It was odd for Semi to invite Shirabu along anywhere anymore. Shirabu was usually too caught up with his boyfriend to hang out with Semi.
"No not really. I'll explain everything Friday night. Shirabu just really needs me right now. He needs us."
Hearing this caused Suga to worry. 'He needs us? What's going on? Why hasn't he text me about it?!' Shirabu and Suga were pretty good friends, since Shirabu grew up with both of them. Suga also knew that Semi had the biggest crush ever for Shirabu, but after he got in a relationship, Shirabu pushed Semi away.
Suga looked down at the time on his phone. 'Fuck! I need to shower and get to bed!' Suga thought as he shot Semi a quick "Okay. Stay safe. Love you cuzzo," and went to hop in the shower.
