a little surprise

It was one of those days. You know. The days where you couldn't stop smiling and bursts of giddiness flowed through your bloodstream, making it seem as though you were slightly tipsy. The days where the childish grin could not be wiped from your face.

Those kinds of days.

That was the type of day Ahsoka Bonteri was having: pure joy.

She was practically bouncing off the walls from excitement. Dreams of her and her husband's future. The dreams that were at last coming true.

Two more hours, she thought impatiently. Then my love will be home and I can tell him the good news.

The fact was, she and her husband, Lux Bonteri, had been trying for years and ultimately never succeeded. The both of them were at the point of giving up; realizing that it would never happen, that it just wasn't possible.

But by some off-chance of a miracle, it turned out as positive.

She could almost hear the pitter latter of two tiny feet now.

Excitedly, she pulled a small, cardboard gift box from the top of the linen closet and folded it into the square it was supposed to be. With the biggest child-like grin on her face, Ahsoka grabbed a white onesie—with the words Excited to meet you, Daddy! written in fancy, black font across the middle—and folded it carefully in the box so the words were visible without any trouble. Then Ahsoka laid the positive stick in a diagonal, trying to make her little present as cute and as aesthetically pleasing as she could.

That was her favorite part—putting the positive test smack in the middle. It was something that Ahsoka and Lux would always remember, and it showed they they went through hard times, and they would stand by each other through hard times.

Taking a glance at her wrist chrono, Ahsoka let out a groan. There was still an hour until Lux would be home. Usually, she didn't start dinner until just after Lux came home, but today she wanted to make the occasion even more special.

Ahsoka prepped the dru'un into several thin slices, making it so her and her husband both had enough. But of course they had enough. Lux's job in the Imperial Senate racked in boats of credits—they could buy just about anything they could ever want. However, most of the time they used their credits to help those in need and to help to budding Rebellion.

After slicing the dru'un, she placed the tray in the convection oven and set the temperature to four-hundred-twenty degrees; at that degree dinner would be ready just as Lux would get home. Ahsoka then made the dough for blue puff cube cakes, dicing the blue dough into symmetrical cubes. Puff cube cakes were Lux's absolute favorite, and Ahsoka wanted to treat him after a long day of work.

She made a side of corn, as well as gravy to go with dru'un. Her stomach started to growl as she smelled the meal coming together.

As it was getting closer to Lux's expected arrival, Ahsoka changed into a light turquoise sundress with pale pink sandals—almost to signify the mystery of if she was carrying a boy or girl. She put on a simple layer of lip liner, just to make the occasion even more special. Even though she didn't need to dress up and look pretty—Lux always made sure she felt beautiful no matter what—she wanted to have the moment of when she told her husband she was pregnant for her to at least appear semi-decent.

Ahsoka smiled to herself. Hopefully Lux would be happy about her news.

She had just finished setting the table when she heard the jingling of keys at the front door. She dashed to the entryway when Lux walked in, obviously exhausted from a long day at work.
