Ahsoka Tano could not, for the life of her, focus on the briefing.

Her mind was wandering to the handsome face of Lux Bonteri, the newly appointed senator for Onderon on behalf of the Republic. The young man had muscles that rippled down his back as well as his abdominals, with shaggy hair that curled in the all right places, making it fluffy albeit kempt.

It wasn't just his appearance that made Ahsoka go crazy: it was his pure kindheartedness as well. He was such a gentleman; always asking first before kissing her and making her feel like the only woman in the world without even trying.

Lux Bonteri was just the epitome of selflessness. He worked around the clock to make sure everyone's needs were taken care of before his, as well as constantly asking if anyone needed his aid—sometimes helping others without even being asked.

How did I get so lucky? she asked herself, with a guy so wonderful as he is?

". . . . you two will go to the Scarif system and . . . ." Master Windu's words were coming in and out of Ahsoka's head. All she could really think of was Lux's lips pressed against hers—

"Padawan Tano. Padawan Tano! Do you copy?" snapped Master Mundi.

She instantly blinked back to reality. What was happening again? Oh, right. She was at a briefing with her master and somebody had called her name. "Yes, of course I copy," she replied dryly.

"Your thoughts are. . . . well now I can't sense them because you tightened your hold on your mental shields."

"I was paying attention, Masters," she said with a little bow. The truth was, she really wasn't paying attention, but the elder Jedi didn't need to know that.

"If you were paying attention, then what planet are you going to?" Master Windu quipped.

"Scarif," she replied confidently.

"Alright," Master Windu conceded. "Your ship leaves tomorrow night. Please use this time to study and practice as well as getting enough sleep. You all are dismissed."

Ahsoka practically skipped out of the debriefing room. She could go over to Lux's apartment and spend time with him before she had to leave. It was a foolproof plan.

"Ahsoka, wait a minute. Where are you headed off to?" Actually, her plan wasn't foolproof. She forgot about Master Skywalker.

"I'm going to train for a bit, so I'm even more prepared for the mission tomorrow!" she enthused almost too excitedly. Now Anakin would know what was up.

"Oookay," he replied, dragging out the Oh sound. "But your focus was all over the place today. I know for a fact you're not ready to go with me and Obi-Wan tomorrow." Ahsoka's eyes darted to the floor. How was she supposed to cover this? She and Lux weren't even officially together and she was already having a difficult time keeping it a secret.

"I'm just tired is all. My head's been giving me trouble lately and it's making it hard to center my attention on things." It wasn't exactly a lie. The teenaged Togruta had frequent migraines, but they made her more nauseous than lacking her focus in things.

"Well, if you'd like, I can pick up a bottle or two of Triptan to see if that can help. If not, I'd recommend talking to a healer about it."

Ahsoka bowed. "Thank you, Master. That means a lot to me that you care."

"'Course, Snips," he chuckled lightly, playfully jabbing her on the back in between her shoulder blades. "Go drink some water and lay down with the lights off, that should help ease it away. Comm me if you need anything." He gave a light pat in between her montrals and took off to wherever he was going.

Instead of heading to her and her master's shared quarters, she went the opposite way where the speeder bay was. If she hurried, she could talk to Lux and get back to the Temple before anyone would realize she was gone.

It was still early in the morning, but it was bright enough outside for her to be recognized if she wasn't careful.

She made her way through the Senate Apartment Complex without seeing anyone, which was both a plus and a bit out of the ordinary. Usually the complex was bustling with senators getting to and from their offices.

She knocked on the metallic door and waited patiently for Lux to answer. They had to figure out what was going on between the two of them. It wasn't more than a couple of seconds when Lux opened the door with a surprised glance glued to his face. "Ahsoka! I'm glad you're here, don't get me wrong, but why are you here?"

She paused for a moment. She had everything she wanted to say planned out before she even made it to this point, but now that she was there none of the words formed correctly. "I—well, you—I. . . . We need to discuss us," Ahsoka said, gesturing to the both of them. "Like what are we? Did those kisses mean anything? Did—?"

"Let's come inside and talk about this." The senator offered his hand for the Jedi to take, and she grabbed it without hesitance. He led her to the main sofa, and she sat on one end while he sat on the other. "To be honest, I'm really not sure what this all means, either. I. . . . really don't know."

"Was it a mistake? The kisses you gave me a few weeks back when you moved here?"

"No! Of course not. I just don't know what it means for us. I didn't regret kissing you, and you didn't act like you regretted kissing me, but I just don't know." Lux paused while he fumbled with one of the fraying pom poms on the fancy pillows.

"Lux, I'm pretty sure you're not doing it on purpose, but you honestly treat me like I'm the only girl who's in existence whenever I'm around you. You make me feel. . . . how do I put this. . . . special. Like I'm not just some soldier fighting in a galactic conflict. I'm not sure if I can put together the right words to explain it." Subconsciously, Ahsoka found her orange fingers in the pale ones of Lux. There was so much she wanted to say. But her brain and her mouth refused to work together, and she couldn't conjure up anything that would sound intelligent.

"I want to treat you right. You deserve so much and I want to make you believe it." Slowly, he ruffled through his hair, (which made Ahsoka die a little on the inside because of how cute it was.) "Ahsoka, I like you. And I mean a lot. If you weren't a Jedi, I'd ask you to be mine without a second's hesitation. And now I feel awful because I asked to kiss you and I probably fiddled with your Jedi attachment rule. I would never forgive myself if you got kicked from the Order because of my stupidity."

The young Togruta sat in silence, processing what he just said. Even when he wanted her all to himself he thought of others first. "Could we keep it a secret? Like pretend we're just friends in public but in private act like lovers? I know it's a difficult feat, but I like you, too, and I can't get you out of my mind. I'm not sure if I want to give up any opportunity for an us."

Lux gave a curt smirk. "I would love that, but what about the Jedi? Wouldn't they be able to sense what's going on between us?"

"Master Skywalker has trained me to have good mental shields for a reason, Lux," she countered, deciding that his shoulder was much more comfortable than the headrest of the sofa. "I just would like to try."

"Of course you know what my answer will be, Ahsoka. But lemme havé the honor in asking: would you be mine?"

"Yes," she whispered. Ahsoka cuddled into his chest and breathed in the scent of his cologne.

They knew that sacrifices had to be made to make their relationship work. But it was okay, as long as they did it together.
