Put your head on my shoulder
Hold me in your arms, baby
Squeeze me oh-so-tight
Show me that you love me, too

Lux Bonteri gaited back in forth in his flat, jittery from impatience. He wasn't sure why he was so nervous, but his chewed off nails were rather tired of it. All he was going to be doing was ask Ahsoka Tano if she'd accompany him to a Senatorial dinner as security.

Breathe, he told himself. It's not that hard to ask a girl out.

Yeah but that girl in question is a Jedi, practically off limits.

The young senator swallowed his saliva and peered into the mirror one last time. He was at least a bit presentable; the boy wanted to look nice but not too over the top.

Would she be allowed to go? As security? Was it better to ask the Council for her permission to go first? Would they read too much into it?

Lux didn't want to imbed himself in the middle of the attachment rule, and he certainly didn't want Ahsoka's Jedi career to be jeopardized, but to go to this dinner he needed a date. And Ahsoka happened to be the only girl his age he knew. Who else would he ask if not the spunky Togruta?

He took a deep breath once more before making the call to the Council. After a few rings, the holo picked up, showing the stern face of Master Windu. "Senator Bonteri, what is it that you require?"

"I—I need a Jedi escort, please," he stuttered. Lux praised the refinement of the Master Jedi, but the way he presented himself just made him more intimidating. "Ahsoka Tano would be preferable."

"What do you need Padawan Tano for? And wouldn't another Jedi work as an escort?" The master clicked his fingers together and furrowed his brow.

Lux wasn't really expecting that answer. He just assumed that the Council would allow him to use Ahsoka for the evening. "I—um, have a Senatorial dinner tonight and, um, well, since I'm still rather new to the Senate, it would be nice to have someone I know accompany me for security reasons."

The elder man seemed to contemplate for a moment, then he glanced to his superior, Master Yoda, before a decision was reached. "Allow Padawan Tano to come with you, we will. Tell her to dress fancy, shall we?"

"Yes, please. And thank you much."

"This isn't like you are asking her on a date, is it?" the younger Jedi spoke.

"No, sir. It's simply diplomatic. I will see to it that she makes it back to the Temple, if that helps."

"Meet you at your apartment, Padawan Tano will. Good day, Senator Bonteri."

Put your lips next to mine, dear
Won't you kiss me once, baby?
Just a kiss goodnight, maybe
You and I will fall in love
You and I will fall in love

Fancy, glittery attire was something the Padawan of Anakin Skywalker found futile and rather impractical. She had nowhere to stow away her lightsabers, and fighting combatants in four-inch heels and a slitted gown was unappealing.

Meeting with both Masters Windu and Yoda to have them say she would be escorting Senator Bonteri to a trivial dinner was definitely not a highlight of her day.

She was more interested in sleeping. Or training. Or eating. Or doing literally anything else than go to a stupid supper.

But it was a mission.

A mission that could totally go wrong.

The mere thought of Lux Bonteri made her insides twist around into an infinity knot. No doubt about it, the second her eyes land on the senator, feelings she'd worked so hard to lose would come back.
