"Welcome Mr and Mrs Donald". Mr Ikoyi greeted and shook hands with the both before gesturing them to a seat.

"Thank you". Lara replied offering him one of her sweetest smiles.

Mr. Ikoyi returned her smile and sat behind his table crossing his hands in front of him.
"What can I offer you?".

Lara shook her head "We're fine".

She hitched a breathe as Chris interlocked his fingers with hers, she felt chill shivers run from their interlocked fingers to her heart.

"I'm guessing Kcee told you guys why you're here".

Chris nodded "Yes, you want us to perform in your show".

"That's right, so we would go into our discussions".

"But isn't this Kcee's job?". Lara asked.

Chris lifted her hands to his lips "It is, chicken. But we have to know certain things, like the timing of our appearance, what to say, e.t.c".

Chicken?. What in the world?.

She spun to face him, lowering her voice she asked "What did you just call me?".

Chris winked and gave her a smug smile that made her agitated. She scrunched up her face and turned to face the older man who was staring at them in admiration.

"You two really deserve an award of Nigerian's sweethearts, you guys are adorable".

Lara gave him a small smile and gave Chris a nudge on the side of his stomach with a scowl on her face.

The rest of the meeting and discussions were a blur. After exchanging handshakes, she walked behind Chris towards their car. She gave Madu a brief smile as he opened the door for them.

"So, what was the meaning of what you said in there?". Lara asked as the car began moving.

Chris chuckled "I said alot of things babe". He said with wink.

Her heart raced. But she wanted to stay mad at him.

"You called me a chicken".

"That's because chickens are deliciously beautiful".

She blushed furiously "You think I'm beautiful".

He shrugged "I did say you were a chicken, I meant both in your thinking and your appearance".

Her mouth hung open in shock, she realized herself when she heard Madu chuckling. She closed her mouth and gave him a scowl then she turned to a grinning Chris.

"Emi?, Chicken?, So I think like a chicken?".

"I didn't mean it like that na".

"It's okay". She folded her arms and turned to look out of the window, strangely the scenery seemed more interesting than ever.

He took her hands: unfolding her arms to gain her attention but she pushed his hands and gave him a glare.

He pouted "Aww babe, my own chicken, my cute chicken".

She rolled her eyes "Please stop, don't call me cute".

"So I can call you chicken?"

The next day after their meeting with Mr. Ikoyi, Chris walked to the kitchen and leaned against the door as he sipped from a glass of orange juice watching as Lara swayed her hips while she washed the dishes. She had earplugs inserted in her ears and her phone was in the back pocket of her shorts.

His gaze fell on Auntie Nkechi, who was at the other end of the kitchen pounding rhythmically with a pestle against a mortar. She wiped her forehead with the end of her wrapper and resumed pounding.

This was a sight he loved except he wished it was his mum not Auntie Nkechi.

"Nnaa... How was your night?". Auntie Nkechi asked looking up from her task.

"It was fine, Gi?".

"Odinma". She smiled "Nwuye gi si k'osorom sie nri".

He nodded with a smile "Nsogbu adighi".

He walked to the dancing woman who was oblivious to what was happening and wrapped his free hand around her waist.

She jumped slightly and turned to face him removing her earplugs as she did.

She hit his chest playfully "You scared me, you goat".

"One of these days, you're really going to teach me how to dance oo". He said and stepped backwards giving her some space.

She laughed throwing her head back and this brought a smile to his face.

"I should teach you?, You that can break dance sef".

Auntie Nkechi chuckled softly "Don't mind him, if you see the way he danced when he was a child eh!".

"Eh, so he could dance as a child?". Lara asked her eyes litting up.

Auntie Nkechi smiled widely "Very well oo".

He pouted "Auntie, stop nau". He turned to Lara "Don't mind her, I was a very shy boy who could not dance".

"Osio gini?, Shy indeed. You just want her to dance alone with you in the name of teaching you. Biko leave this place so we can cook joor".

He laughed "It's not a bad idea, what do you think babe?".

Lara rolled her eyes "Just go abeg before you contaminate the food".

He pouted and walked out of the kitchen leaving the giggling ladies behind but he knew one day he would make Lara dance privately for him.
