I will always stay with you

Chapter 1

Katniss POV

I gaze out of the window, my head resting on my hand and my eyes scanning the trees. Not for anything in particular just enjoying the amazing  scenery. My mother sister and I and moving to district 12 to start fresh. Too much has happened in our old house in district 7. 

I am kind of nervous for starting at the new school but not too worried. I've never been good at making friends which just means i'm good at functioning without them. I had one person back in district 7 that you could kind of call a friend. Her name was Madge and we were both loners so we ended up working together on projects in class and stuff like that. We never really talked to each other which suited us both just fine. 

I feel the car move beneath me as we pull into the driveway. I look up to see our new house, it isn't too big or too small but a medium normal sized looking house. The outside is painted a light blue with dark brown almost black stained wood on the trim. It has large wooden door the same color as the trim. I get out and began to unload our suitcases. 

My little sister, Prim, jumps out of the car and runs over to help me unload. Our mother just opens her door and walks blankly into the house. I just roll my eyes and kept hauling things out. 

Once we get everything inside I make my way upstairs to survey the bedrooms. There's a master bedroom with a pretty big bathroom attached. Mom can have this one I think to myself. I walk down the hallway and and find another bedroom and a smallish bathroom as well as two more bedrooms connected to each other by a bathroom. Perfect, I can be close to Prim. 

"Katniss" Prim calls from downstairs 

"Coming" I call back. I amble back downstairs to find my mother sitting on the floor in the kitchen just staring at the wall. I'm just happy she drove us here. It was nice to just let her do her thing for once. "How does some food sound?" I turn and ask prim 

"Oooo, can we get pizza?" she asks

"Sure" I tell her "Ill be right back" I grab my keys from the table and go outside to climb into my mothers car. I drive into town and pull up to the first pizza place I see. I get out and go inside and order a pepperoni pizza. I get my pizza and run to the door as a kinda cute guy with blond hair holds it for me. 

"Thanks" I mutter under my breath and give him a small smile. I make my way back home and go inside. We eat at the counter because the moving truck wont get here until tomorrow. Its pretty late and we don't have anything else to do so we get our sleeping bags from the living room and sleep on the floor. 

I wake up early the next morning and grab a couple of things for school from the pile of our stuff in the living room and run back upstairs. I change into a tight dark green shirt and some skinny jeans. Then I go downstairs and make some toast for prim and I. 

"I'm scared Katniss." she tells me. " I wont know anyone. " 

Unlike me, Prim is very social, she had a bunch of friends back at our old place and everyone she meets just loves her. "It'll be OK" I tell her "you are so good at making friends, you wont have any trouble" She gives me a very dubious look but climbs into the car with me. I drop her off at the middle school and make my way to the high school which is just a couple of blocks down the road. 

I park in the lot, grab my bag from the passenger seat and get out. There's a big stairway and double doors, students are sitting all over the stairs in groups though there are a couple people who are just by themselves. One boy looks familiar but I cant put my finger on who he is. He has blonde hair and striking blue eyes. He is leaning up against a tree next to the stairs and reading a book, not paying any attention to the douche bags tackling each other right next to him. 

Somewhere a bell rings so I make my way inside with the rest of the students. I look at the paper I was emailed with my locker number and schedule on it. I find my locker and my books then make my way to my first class. I find a seat in the back and kind of zone out the entire class because its just your normal first day kind of stuff. Class rules and be kind to each other and crap like that. 

I have two more classes then lunch then 3 more classes after that. In my 3rd class right before lunch I sit in the back again but then the familiar boy from outside comes and sits right next to me. I give him a mean look and he just smiles back and looks away. I'm kind of weirded out. Why is he being nice to me?

The rest of the period I catch him looking at me but when I look at him he just flushes red and glances down. And this happens for the rest of the day because apparently our schedules are almost exactly the same. I sit alone at lunch but the rest of the day I have a blond haired blue eyed shadow. 

When the final bell rings I make my way to my locker which is literally 3 lockers down from the blond boy. While he is getting all of his things ready I watch him. Then it clicks. hes the boy from the pizza place last night. That's why he looks so familiar. I get my stuff out of my locker and start to make my way to my car when I hear a quiet voice from behind me. 

"Wait whats your name" the blond boy asks. 

"Why" I ask him. Giving him a suspicious look. 

He blushes and says " well we basically have the same scheduled so i figured we should at least know each others names."

I decide he seems ok and say "my name is Katniss"

"Hi he says, Im Peeta"
