I will always stay with you

Chapter 2

Katniss POV

I say good bye to Peeta then go to pick up Prim from the middle school. We drive home and I cant seem to get this Peeta guy out of my head> he was so nice to me when I was so mean to him and I don't really understand why. He is also super cute the more I looked at him the cuter he got. I know I sound creepy but I promise you Im not a stalker. 

I get inside and heat up some leftover pizza for a snack since my lunch was super small, just an apple and some milk. I pull out my homework and for some reason all the teachers said they give a lot of homework for the first week so I am up until like 11 working. Then i go upstairs and see that my mom has been busy. 

The bed is all set up and it even has sheets and a blanket on it, even though its still like 98 degrees outside. "Thanks mom" I shout and crawl into bed. I wake up the next morning and throw some clothes on, grab my bag and my sister and head to the car. 

We are making our way to the middle school when prim says from the back seat "So Kat, did you make any new friends yesterday?" I think about it for a bit. Peeta and I aren't really friends, all we said was hi, and our names, but he was really nice. 

So I decide to say "I may have made one" 

"Oooo, whats their name?" she shrieks

"Well there's this one guy and his name is Peeta and He was super nice and we had a bunch of classes together" I say

"Peeta?" she says. 

"Yeah, i know, Kind of a weird name right?"

She just shrugs and asks "Is he cute?"

I give her a small nod as we pull into the parking lot of the middle school and she climbs out. "bye!!" I shout 

She just waves and goes to join a group of people in front of the school. 

I get to my school and turn in my work for my first class amd kind of daze out just like yesterday. But when 3rd period rolls around i decide to try being nice for a change. Peeta is already sitting in the  back of the class so I go sit next to him and give him a small smile. 

"hi" he says

"hi , how are you" I ask 

"Im pretty good" He answers then glances back down at his work. I don't really know what to say next but a very bubbly guy who always seems to be on a sugar high comes over and saves me . I think his name is something weird too, it starts with a F. What was it, flynn or something. 

"Hi, Im Finnick!" he says " mind if I sit here?"

"Nope" I say and glance at Peeta to make sure it is  ok with him and he just gives me a small nod. So now I have Peeta and Finnick in a little pod of 3 desks. The class room is broken up into groups of desks all different numbers. Some groups have 7 and some have 2 desks. 

I notice throughout the class I get stink eyes from a bunch of the other girls and I cant figure out why. 

That entire class period is kind of award so when the bell rings I let out a small breath and make my way to my locker. Peeta walks a couple paces behind me so I slow to his pace. We smile at each other and unlock our lockers. I have lunch one period before him so I grab my lunch box and head to the cafeteria. 

On my way there i am approached by a group of girls. The "lead" girl who's name is Delly I think comes up and says, "so, you've been talking to Peeta"

"Yep" I say, Give her a smile and try to keep walking to the cafeteria. She steps in front of me. 

"where do you think you are going" She says 

"Um, to lunch" I say. And that's when it happens.
