I will always stay with you

Chapter 10

Peeta POV

I wait for Katniss in the parking lot in front of the school, she pulls up in her small, old adorable car. She gets out and runs into my open arms. We hug and laugh for a couple of minutes then go inside. I'm sad that I don't have my first class with Katniss but I will see her later. The day seems to go so slowly, like every minute we aren't together is in slow motion. Just to make the time away from her even worse I have classes with Delly, she is constantly trying to get my attention and talk to me when I already told her to leave me the heck alone. 

It's hard to concentrate in the classes that I have with Katniss, we talk to each other so much and often get yelled at by the teacher. These are the moments when I learn the most about Katniss. I know that she is a rule breaker and she takes risks without even thinking sometimes. I know that she is very stubborn and independent. I also learn from the things she tells me about herself. 

I learn about her father and how he died. I learn about how her mother reacted to her fathers death and how she has had to care for Prim pretty much on her own since then. I learn about her skills with the bow and how her father taught her in the woods next to her house where they used to live. I learn about how she even hunted to keep her family alive after her fathers death. 

I learn so much about Katniss and she learns so much about me but we don't learn much from our teacher (which is our fault). 

At the end of the day when we are out in the parking lot I decide to ask Katniss out on a date. "Hey how would you like to go out with me tomorrow after school?" I ask

"That sounds great but Prim and I were planning on going shopping then. Hmmm. How about Wednesday after school. I think I am free then." 

"Sounds good!"

"How about you come over tonight and we can just nag out and do some homework or something?"

"OK, let me stop at my house to make at least one order today or my mother will freak out." I say, kind of scared for what she will say when I tell her about Katniss. IF I tell her about Katniss. 

"Oh, would it be better for me to come over there? I can help you bake, though I'm not very good"

"That sounds good, we just have to try and avoid my mother" I say, internally freaking out. What if she tries to hit Katniss what do I do? I mean obviously I would stop her but what would that mean for me later. 

"OK I will be over soon" She says and he hug goodbye. 

Katniss POV 

As I am walking across the lot, away from Peeta and to my car I accidentally run into a couple of people, one of them being Finnick. 

"Hey Finnick. How are you? Glad we weren't made into cat food the other day right?I say with a laugh. Then I notice the gorgeous girl next to him. "And who's this?"

"Oh this is Annie" he says blushing "my girlfriend." He gives a small sigh and then as if remembering my other question "Oh yeah! And how is Peeta's arm?"

"He seems to be doing better, healing very quickly. Oh we are also dating now" I say, unable to contain my smile. 

"Wait seriously? I'm so happy for you guys. When I saw you talking on the hike I knew it was only a matter of time. And when Peeta got hurt, your face may have broken my heart. You looked so terrified." 

"Well yeah I was terrified, we had just gotten attacked my a mountain lion!" I say, kind of embarrassed. 

"You know what I mean Katniss" Finnick says with a laugh, popping a sugar cube in his mouth.

"I guess I do" I say defeated. "I really really like him Finnick." 

"I'm happy for you. You two deserve each other."

"Thank you Finnick, I am happy for you and Annie too" I say "And Annie here is my number, text me if Finnick does anything stupid and I will come" I say with a laugh. She giggle and puts my number into her phone. 

"Thanks Katniss" She says. "And it was nice to meet you!" 

"Nice to meet you too. Bye" I get to my car and climb in, taking a deep breath. Today was a long day. I decided that now that Peeta and I are officially going to be a thing I should tell him about my parents. But the day is far from over, I still get to go hang out at Peeta's house and do some baking. I am very excited for that. 

I get to Peeta's and he makes me put on a white apron. 

"We don't want to get those beautiful clothes all covered in flour and other gross things, do we"

"I guess not" I say with a laugh and throw a little flour in his direction. 

"Hey!" he proclaims "That was a new shirt"

"Then put an apron on" I tease "If I have to look ridiculous then you do to. And any ways, we wouldn't want to get those beautiful clothes all covered in flour" I mimic him. 

"Fair enough" He says and throws an apron on. 

We bake a couple of cakes and mostly I just do some small stuff, Peeta tells me what to do. We are having so much fun. That is until Peeta discovers a hole in an oven mit. 

"Shit" He yells

"Oh crap!" I rush over and take his burned finger. I bring it up to my mouth and give it a gentle kiss. "There, all better now" I say with a smile. I grab some aloe from the bathroom upstairs and rub it onto his finger. 

"You know I can do that" he says with a smirk. 

"Yes but I like taking care of you" I say not looking up from my work. He gently places a hand under my chin so that our eyes meet. I gaze into those deep blue eyes that look back at me sparkling with adoration then put my hand onto the back of is head and bring it closer to mine so that our noses are touching. I can feel his breath against my face. Our lips crash into each other's and he picks me up. I wrap my legs around his torso and cling to him with all my might. My arms wrap around his neck and my hands find their way into his hair.  We fit together perfectly and in that heated moment we are so focused on each other that we don't notice his mother walk into the room.
