Emptiness. Emptiness woke you from your nap on the grass. Your eyes fluttered open, memories of a blue sky slipping from your mind as yellow and orange became more prevalent and replaced it. Sluggishly sitting up, you checked your wrist, feeling queasy when deep crimson marks glared back at you.

Constantly ridiculed and made to feel guilty for rendering your mother unable to use her legs like she used to, attempting to kill yourself, then waking up bloody afterwards had become a punishment of sorts for you. You'd always try to hide your self inflicted wounds so your parents--especially your mother, wouldn't worry. Unfortunately, in the end they'd always find out. It was then that you'd find yourself being scolded by your mother as she wrapped your wounds and stressed how important you were. Your father on other hand, would dial up the doctor again, smiling gently at you as the doctor would talk to and stabilize you again.

It always worked for a while, but your peers were cruel and eventually their words would have you wanting to give death another twirl. You were on a merry go round in that way you guessed...too down and out to get off.

Disappointed, you stood, gingerly covering your forearm with your sleeve as you started your journey home. The sun's almost set and I'm nowhere near home you thought, pursing your lips. You kicked the grass beneath you, picturing your mother exterting herself as she ran to embrace your (b/t) figure. However, an explosion steered you from your imaginations.

Glancing up, your eyes squinted into the distance, clearly able to make out multiple sources of smoke rising in the city. Realizing that one source of smoke rose in your part of town, a pit formed in your stomach and you began to run the rest of the way to the city. You hoped that your parents were alright.

Reaching the outskirts of the city in record time you huffed heavily, your lungs burning-- much to your irritation. Perspiration and soreness overwhelmed your body and you really wanted to rest at this point. However, a glimpse into the inside of the city told you to do otherwise.

Fire engulfed the majority of buildings, flipped over cars riddled the streets, and the remains of what ppl were left filled your view, making you nauseous again. Walking cautiously, you crept deeper into the city, knitting your eyebrows when you discovered the state of other city dwellers.

For the people who were still alive, majority were covered in blood-- either from missing body parts or from clinging to the bodies of dead loved ones, you couldn't really tell. The distinct screams and wails of people also sent a chill up your spine and made it hard to think properly. It was too much and it made you want to turn away, yet you managed to force the feeling down, unwilling to leave without your parents first.

Trying to remain unnoticed, you got as close as you could to the ruined buildings, struggling to block out all the painstaking noises around you as you navigated your way home.

Managing to make it a little farther than halfway past the center of the city, you sighed in relief, deciding to take a moment to recoup. I'm almost home...Mom, Dad, please be okay you thought, hugging your shoulders tightly.

Getting ready to trek forward again, you yelped when you were harshly grabbed from behind and pulled backwards. You immediately started to struggle, tearing yourself away from the force just briefly enough to turn in their direction. You almost wished you didn't turn around when you did though, the sight enough to make you gag.
