Chapter 1: Not So Bad
•)Alex's POV(•
"Ugh! Where the hell is it?" I muttered, running my hand frustratedly through my now frizzy hair. It's a habit passed down from my mom, when I'm nervous or pissed off.
"Excuse me ma'am, but is this your bag?" A middle aged lady with a baby resting on her hip kindly asked me.
"Oh thank god, I thought it dropped out of the plane or something. Thank you so much." I smiled at the woman as she left. I've been looking for the same bag at the luggage claim for the past hour. I mean, how many blue suitcases are there at 8:30 am on a Saturday morning? Ok, fine, a lot, but you get my point.
I took my suitcase along with my duffel down to the pick up area of the airport. As I waited for my aunt to show up, I checked my phone and saw 3 missed calls from my best friend, Louise, who is back in New York along with the rest of my life.
I called her back and she picked up on the third ring.
"What the hell is wrong with you? Are you there yet?" She asked, skipping the greetings.
"Yeah, I'm just waiting on my aunt to come pick me up." I replied, wiping my sweaty hands on my already sweaty legs.
"Well life back here sucks without you already. You need to get your ass back over here." I could almost see her navy blue eyes staring at me accusingly on the other end.
"It's not like this was all my choice. Moving thousand miles from New York? Yeah right. But anyways how's Rosie?" Rosie is the most adorable Labrador Retriever I've ever seen, and since I've left for Cali, I put her under Lou's care.
"She good. Although I think she's developing a thing for my cat. It's kinda weird. So how's it like in California?"
"As hot as the freaking Sahara desert, but the people are nice when they aren't shoving you to get their luggage." As I said this, I saw my aunts silver Jeep pull up. I said my farewells as I dragged my luggage over to the car and ended the call.
"Hello sweetheart, how was the trip? Meet any new people?" She wiggled her eyebrows at me, sunglasses perched on her head lifting the hair away from her face.
"Like I can do that while squashed in the middle of two extremely boring old geezers. Don't forget the people that were trying to kill me at the baggage claim." My aunt, Lucy, although extremely nice and fun to be around, still has the mind of a teenager at the age 29. She's all about 'young love' and all that bullshit. If you ask me, she shouldn't be legally allowed to take care of me and I should still be back in New York. Not in freaking California.
