A Fast Approaching Future

You were now standing in your bed room with Terry, Debra, and Booster.

Terry: What do you mean the future changed again? Is it because of this new law?

Booster: That's a part of it. There's a lot of powerful kids that go unchecked since the Justice League can't help them.

You grunted. Damn bastards. Trust the governments of the world to led to it's end.

Debra: How do we fix it?

Booster: No idea if you even can. The world is ending in a few years now instead of 2050.

Y/N: Then why are Terry and Debra still here? How are you guys not erased?

Booster: Because, like you, we're misplaced. We aren't in our time when it ends meaning we're safe.

Y/N: But all of you wouldn't have been born.

Terry: I think I get it. We aren't in our time meaning we both exist, and don't.

Debra: Like that cat thing?

Booster: Something like that. Regardless, we're screwed right now.

Y/N: What even ends the world?

Booster: Some kind of Crisis. No idea what kind. Most of my data banks past it are all gone.

You rubbed your chin. This could be a problem. You shook your head.

Y/N: Keep investigating it. Keep us up to date with whatever you find.

Booster: Will do. What will do be doing?

Y/N: For now I'm going to focus on this damn law.

Terry and Debra nodded in agreement. Booster seemed satisfied enough and all four of you made a silent vow to keep this on the down low for the time being.

Booster: Good luck. If you guys need help, you know how to call me.

Booster flew off leaving the three of you alone. Terry and Debra turned towards you.

Y/N: What?

Terry: You and Stephanie are a thing now.

You were actually surprised.

Y/N: How did you know?

Debra: The two of you are always together.

You sighed. Looks like you were caught.

Terry: What are you going to do with Helena?

You gave it some thought. You honestly had no idea. She didn't seem like one who likes to talk about stuff.

Y/N: I'll figure it out.

Debra stayed silent before the two of you headed back into the apartment. Everyone looked up when you all stepped in.

Damien: What did the golden boy want?

Y/N: Future stuff. Don't worry about it.

Tim: Are we heading out to patrol now?

You nodded.

Y/N: Although, I'm making a slight adjustment.

You swung around the city before landing on top of a gargoyle. Another person landed behind you as you stood up.

Helena: Why did you ask to switch with Damien?

You looked at her over your shoulder.

Y/N: He need to talk. I figured we could do so on patrol.

Helena seemed to be caught off guard but didn't say anything. You and her walked toward the middle of the roof.

Y/N: There's something that happened between the two of us before I lost my memories. No one will tell me what.

Helena just rubbed her arm.

Y/N: Did we date?

She hesitated before nodding. So that was it. A bad break up maybe? You had no idea.

Y/N: Do you, want to talk about it?

Helena looked at you confused.

Helena: Talk about it?

You nodded.

Y/N: Sometimes talking about stuff, helps.

Helena gave it some thought before nodding.

Helena: Where do I even start?

Y/N: Wherever you want. I'm listening.

Helena smiled.

Helena: Well, as you guessed, we dated. For a while. We were actually going steady and things were going well. When the timelines started to get messed up, you started to act out. I didn't understand it at the time.

Y/N: You were worried.

Helena nodded.

Helena: I just wanted you back. Then, you dissapeared. I missed you even more. When you came back I realized you weren't the same person.

So that was it. Just like everyone else, she missed the old you.

Helena: It kind of sucks but this is who you are now. I just have to accept it. Even if you started dating other girls.

Ok. Ouch. Why the hell did that hurt?

Y/N: I'm sorry he's gone. The man you loved.

Helena shook her head.

Helena: No one could've stopped it. I'm actually glad I'm able to talk to you about this now. It actually feels good to get this off my chest.

You smiled. Helena looked up at you and grinned.

Helena: Besides, you have Stephanie now. I'm happy as long as you are.

You were surpised. Was it that obvious? At the same time, it felt nice hearing her say that.

Y/N: Thank you Helena.

Helena: And thank you, Y/N.

You both shook hands before you grappled the you hook and swung away. Helena followed and things were ok.

Until you were hit with a net.

You fell on a nearby rooftop now trapped. Helena landed beside you and cut you free as a group of soldiers surrounded you.

Soldier: Stay where you are! You're in direct violation of the Underage Hero Law! You're under arrest!
