It took me fifteen minutes to reach my house, not having slowed down at any point during my walk. By the time I reached the door, my legs felt weak, my mouth felt dry, and my chest was heaving, my body practically begging for me to take a break. However, these issues weren't a major concern to me right now due to the other issue at hand.

As I approached the front door, I noticed that all of the lights were off. If my parents were home, the likelihood that they were asleep was very high. I swung my bag to the front of my body, unzipping it to pull out my keys that were laying on top of my clothes. Stopping at the front door, I zipped my bag up, swinging it back around. I put my key in the first lock and turned it, before moving to the second lock and doing the same. Once both were unlocked, I twisted the knob, pushing the door open.

The house was silent when I walked in, and I reached to the wall to flip on the light, finding a little bit of comfort with the room now lit. I shut the door behind me, locking both locks for precaution. I turned back to look up the flight of stairs that lead to the hall our bedrooms were in. "Mom, Dad, I'm home!" I yelled out, resting my left hand on railing post at the bottom of the steps. I waited about ten seconds for any sort of response, but did not receive one. "Mom? Dad?" I yelled again, waiting only a few seconds this time. Again, no one answered, and I didn't hear the sound of any movement at all. Laying my bag down by the door, I quickly ran up the steps.

"Mom! Dad!" I shouted louder, as I took the stairs two at a time. When I reached the top, I practically ran to their bedroom, quickly throwing the door open. The sight in front of me made my blood run cold, taking in their perfectly made bed. I turned on the lightswtich, walking into the room while my eyes traveled around. The room was untouched, everything in the exact spot that it should be. There were no signs that there had been any packing up either, my moms lipstick that she wore everyday still laying on her dresser, and my dad's hairbrush laying on his. I walked further into the room towards the bathroom, opening the door slowly. I flipped the light on to this room as well, and pulled back the shower curtain just to make sure they weren't trying to play a prank on me.

Once it was clear that they were not in the room, I out quickly, eager to check every room in the house. For each one, I was met with the same result that I had in their bedroom. Not one room showed any signs of someone being home or trying to leave. It was like they had just gone out to town for a few hours, and that they would be home any minute. The problem was that there wasn't much open at this hour, and the places that were open, they never went. My parents were nowhere on the property, and left no trace of where they could be.

Pulling out my phone, I dialed Allie first, holding onto hope that she had seen her parents. "Hello?" She answered frantically on the other end. "Have you seen them?" I asked her, running my hand through my hair. "No, you?" She asked me, the hopeful tone in her voice fading as she asked. "No." I responded, my own voice breaking. "I'm going to call Blake." I told her, hanging up before she could even respond.
