ok so,,,, what if david takes a nice lil trip to spooky island,,,, and runs into jasper,,,, 👁👁

   Oh no.

Max watched as David boarded the kayak. He was going to Spooky Island, wasn't he?

The dark-skinned teen considered stopping him, but David had to find out eventually. Biting his lip, he solemnly walked back to camp. He was going to bed early. He didn't want to have to deal with David when he came back.

pov change haha

David whistled the camp song to himself while he rowed his way over to Spooky Island. It was a Saturday, and he had nothing to do, so he wanted to go on a little nostalgia trip. He smiled, looking back at his rippling reflection in the water. He looked up after noticed the boat come to a stop, seeing he had arrived at Spooky Island.

David gently set down his equipment. He stood in front of the kayak, hands on his hips as he stared into the trees.

"It's really not that spooky," David muttered to himself. "Just a bit overgrown."

He silently walked through the small woods, waving at any birds and squirrels he happened to see. And then he found the old, run-down vacation home.

He sighed, running his finger along the damaged wood. "It really was a beautiful ho-"

But he was cut off by a voice.

   A scarily familiar voice.

A voice that uttered one word, one word that was able to send chills up his spine.

   "Davey?"

The redhead turned around, and his eyes widened. He dropped his walking stick, his hands slapping over his mouth.

   "...Jasper?!"

The small boy smiled. "Davey! You've grown so much! I can't believe you're actually a c-"

"Jasper..." The blond stopped talking when he saw the confused and slightly terrified look on David's face. "You... you haven't aged at all..."

The realization dawned on Jasper's face, and he smiled, chuckling. "Oh, you know... being dead and all, I don't really have a b-"

He was cut off again, by a loud and shaky gasp.

"Jasper... Jasper, what do you mean being d-?" David has reached his hand out to touch the smaller boy, and he stopped talking once he saw his hand pass through his friend's body.

"Wh...what... what is... what is this...?"

Jasper's expression softened. "Do you really not know? I... Davey... do you not remember the explosion?"

"The... explo.. Gh-!" David gasped, the realization finally hitting him.

"I'm.. kind of cursed to stay on this island until my physical body can find peace," Jasper explained.

David didn't respond. He felt tears pricking at the edge of his eyes. But not tears of sadness, no.

   Tears of anger.

   Anger towards Mr. Campbell.

"He... he lied to me..." David whispered.

   "What?"

"Mr. Campbell, he... he lied to me... he told me your parents picked you up... I didn't... I didn't know-" David stopped himself, taking a deep and shaky breath.

"Jasper.. I'll be back. But right now, I have some.... business to attend to."

Jasper grinned, knowing exactly what David was going to do. "I'll be waiting. You better tell me all the juicy details when you get back!"

David's lips slightly curled upwards in a tiny smile. "I will."

Needless to say, Max enjoyed listening to David chew out Mr. Campbell the whole night.
