"Alright, welcome to the Hufflepuff commons," David said, showing Blaine and the other new Hufflepuffs into the room.

"Isn't there usually a password or something?" Blaine questioned as they just walked in.

He shrugged. "Not for us. Non-hufflepuffs aren't allowed up to the dormitories, but anyone's welcome in the commons."

"Hi!" A girl— he recognized her as Tina— appeared by Blaine's side. "I don't think we've been properly introduced. I'm Tina Cohen-Chang."

"Yeah, I saw you get sorted," he said, shaking her hand.

She laughed. "Right! Forgot about that. I'm not used to any of this, I'm the first witch in my family."

"The last person in my family to go to Hogwarts was my mom. My brother didn't get the magic gene. Sometimes I'm not sure I'm magic either," he admitted. "I didn't go to magic elementary, and I honestly don't know how to use or control all this."

"I mean, that's why we're here, right?" she said optimistically. "To learn?"

Blaine smiled. "Yeah, you're right."

"Password?"

"Just shut the fuck up and let me in."

Thad watched as the second-year in front of him pushed the door open. "Is that actually the password?"

A girl laughed, appearing by his side. "No, Sebastian just bullies the building. The password is 'Salazar.'"

"Oh." He felt rather embarrassed thinking it was the password.

"C'mon, Twink, stop worrying so much," she dismissed, walking him across the commons to the entrance to the dorms.

"What'd you call me?" he asked.

She stopped and looked at him. "What? You are a twink."

He reddened. "I'm not gay, and even if I was, I don't want you to call me that."

She rolled her eyes. "Fine. Give me something to call you, then, because 'Thaddeus' is much too long and royal."

"Everyone just calls me Thad."

"That's better, I suppose. I'm Santana."

"I hope Thad's alright," Ryan said, rather anxious. "I didn't get to see him after the sorting."

"He'll be fine," Kurt assured him. "If anyone's going to give him trouble for being a Slytherin, it won't be a Slytherin."

Ryan chuckled. "True."

They stopped in front of the portrait. "E—"

"Lemongrass," Kurt interrupted before the knight could go on his rant, the entrance swinging open.

Elliot laughed. "You're getting good at that."

"I'm not going to fight Sir. Metal Ass every time I want to get into the commons," Kurt said, using an exaggerated posh accent for his name.

Someone cleared their throat, and Kurt looked over, seeing a first year. "Right!" He turned to address all of them. "Guys' dorms are on that side, girls' dorms are on that side, if you're nonbinary just try to figure out which one doesn't turn to a slide. If neither do, you're free to pick."

"I thought only the girls' one changed to a slide?" a first-year named Hunter questioned.

"Yeah. It's funny, because, y'know, they made sure guys couldn't get to the girls' dorms right off the bat, but it took something actually happening because girls could still go into the guys' before they made it both ways," Elliot said.

"Don't mind him, he's bitter," Kurt told them.

"For good reason," he muttered.

Wes hesitated, knocking on the door.

"Come in," a voice answered.

He walked into the office, shutting the door behind him. It was large, with several eccentric-looking gadgets on shelves. He recognized the hat from the Sorting Ceremony there.

"So, what brings you to my office?"

Wes looked over, seeing the witch sitting behind the desk. "Er, well, I only just found out I was a wizard on the train. It's a long story, I only had time to read the date and place on the letter, so I just showed up there. So, I don't have any school supplies, and I don't know what I need, or where to get it."

She nodded to the chair in front of her. "Sit, make yourself comfortable. I get the feeling we have a long discussion ahead of us."

"Okay." He sat down, apprehensive. The woman radiated power, all the way up to the point of her crooked hat, yet she spoke kindly to him.

She offered him a tin. "Biscuit?"
