Disappearing Daughters

I finished my cookies and my share of the milk. The twins just sat there, staring at their food then at each other and back to their cookies. They kept sighing and looking at the light.

"What's wrong guys? Why aren't you eating?" I asked them.

Justina jumped. "Ohh, we're not really that hungry, we had a huge dinner before you came around so we're not that hungry."

"Ooh okay" I said. We spent more hours talking. I wasn't paying attention to the time but when I heard birds outside I jumped. I quickly said goodbye to my new friends and went upstairs to change. I didnt have time to bath because it was already 6:30 and I had fifteen minutes left so I just wiped my face with a camp cloth.

Shary wasn't going to work today so I got away with being late. The driver pulled up The driveway and started hooting. I signaled him from the house that I was almost ready. I finally got ready and got in panting and gasping for air.

Days went by and I was getting happier and happier every time I spent nights with the faceless twins. They never told me their surnames or why they were living in our basement but I didnt mind, I was just happy I finally had friends.

I found myself smiling alone in class, thinking about the jokes Justina has been telling for the past weeks about her sister.

"Dorky!! What you smiling about?" Diana's voice snapped me from my thoughts.

"Hey, you're Samantha Hyouga, foster  daughter of Sharlene Wellings the owner of this school." The same smaller voice I heard in the cafeteria said.

"You're right Nicole. Wait didn't Mrs Meyers move into that house that's said to be haunted or something...ohh that's why you're smiling all alone, the ghost got to her. Huh ghost girl?" Diana said and the whole class laughed. I stormed out and waited for the next class in the cafeteria.

My anger didn't last long but Diana and her friend Nicole's words kept me thinking. Haunted? What do they mean by haunted? I kept thinking about it on the ride home.

I got home and found Shary cooking.

"Hey hunny, want something to eat? I'm making your favourite, french fries and Friend fish." She said to me.

"No thanks, hey Shary do you have any newspapers or files about this house?" I asked while looking around.

"I think there are in the attick. Old newspapers but you should sit and.." I cut her off with a thanks and ran upstairs.

Nothing was on my mind except the fact that I had to find put what those two idiots were talking about. I got in the attick and frantically looked around. I found a box labelled 'house junk". I opened it and found pictures and newspapers and other junk in in. I closed it and carried it to my room.

I emptied the box on my bedroom floor and a cloud of dust emerged from it. I looked around and found newspapers talking about a family of a mother and father with one daughter. Most of them talked about how good looking it was. I was about to give up when I saw another one reading 'Raymond family daughter disapears' and more started poking up  about other families with disappearing daughters.

I found a recent one that was written not so long ago, about twenty years ago saying the same thing about daughters disappearing and other siblings found dead.

I went to my laptop and started searching about the house. All the articles and pictures of the stories appeard including the one dated twenty years ago. But one more article appeared at the bottom. This one was dated five years ago.

"Single mother looses twin daughters"

I looked at the pictures and the mother looked a lot like Shary, wait it WAS Shary.
