Prologue

Log of Dr. Richard Flengell

July 2nd, 2032
We have start the human-animal project, for lack of a better name, today in hopes of learning more of DNA structure and DNA splicing. What does this project hope to create? Well, all I can say is that the president has asked us personally to do this project and when I asked what he plans to accomplish he never answered me. All I can say is that maybe he is wanting some kind of super soldier with animal characteristics but I doubt congress will allow that. Since he never told us, I plan on trying to understand how to help people when have disabilities or have lost portions of there own body. Maybe, just maybe, if we are successful, we can answer many health problems we see. That is my hope.

September 5th, 2032
Since we have started the project, not much progress has been made. Many of the animals we have spliced sadly have died, except for one. There is a german shepherd we spliced that has been progressing quite well, we even have given him a name, Toby. We haven't seen huge changes but we have seen his DNA integrate the DNA we have spliced in. We hope to see what happens in the near future.

Now on another note, even though this is off the books. I have gotten word of a company or group, I don't know, named T-Cell that maybe working on a secret project. I have met members of that group, but it seems to be top secret. From what I have heard, they are creating something from splicing DNA into people. As to what it is they are adding, I don't know, but rumor has it, they got the research from a pharmaceutical from way back when. When I asked for the name, they said that it is practically wiped from history. Whatever it is they are doing, I don't think it's good.

January 25th, 2033
Since my last log, Toby has changed a lot, and when I mean changed, well, many of his internal system such as his skeletal and muscular systems have change. He now is more human, to be more precise, his skeletal and muscular systems have changed to walk on two legs and his appendages have also become in a sense human except his skull has stayed the same and has retained his tail also. His fur has remained and despite his muscular system changing to be able to work with his skeleton, he still has the agility and talents a german shepherd would have. We have also seen what seems to be vocal chords, and are even fully formed. We have tried to teach him speech and have made little successful. His brain has also changed so much so that his intel le he is the same as ours. As these changes took place, we have given him clothes to wear. We will continue to keep a close eye on him to see what else has changed and what has stayed the same.

February 29th, 2033
Since we have been teaching how to speak, he has began to hold a decent conversation with us, even asking questions about who we are and what we do. From what we can gather, with his higher intelligence we have noticed that his personality has changed from being super active and energetic to more curious and laid back. Most likely there is more to his personality than that but as we continue to learn more from him, we hope to see how he thinks. He has also been learning quite quickly as relating to education. We have also been successful with some other animals also. We have seen success with some more german shepherds, some huskies, wolves, reptiles, birds, and other animal life. Even aquatic creatures even. They have gone through the same transformation and is exactly like Toby but with their own animal traits. From this we have created a serum to start this transformation and have been successful, but not too long ago, our lab got broken into and some of the serum was stolen. Where it is we don't know but authorities are looking into it.

May 5th, 2035
My name is Richard Flengell and I am one of the very few human beings left on earth. Two months ago, terrorists, who stole the serum to transform animals into what we call anthros from the lab I worked in. They discovered that it was lethal to us humans and released it into the atmosphere. Sadly, we last few have maybe a day at most before we die. When the serum was released, me and the other scientist released the anthros we were testing and learning from. Since the serum has spread over the planet, animals have changed and from what I can gather the serum will eventually dissipate for humans to live here again, but we will be extinct before then. For anyone out there listening to this remember us.
