Months after King Poseidon and Halfling were saved, the butterfly fairies entered a period of peaceful prosperity. No Titans dared to attack Halfling after he was saved from being poisoned, and the butterfly fairies treated the ones who went on the journey like regular celebrities.
Annabeth enjoyed working as the new Royal Historian, helping younger kids find books after she managed to convince King Poseidon to make the library available to everyone. Her days were much more relaxing ever since she got back since she had Piper assisting her in the library since, instead of following their mother's orders, Silena moved in with her boyfriend, a trainee in the royal guard, and Piper moved into her own apartment near where Annabeth continued to live with her family.
Percy always made sure to visit Annabeth in the library once a day, even if it was just to bring her food to make sure that she had eaten that day.
At one point, Rachel flew into the library, becoming overwhelmed by the amount of books. "Annabeth? You in here?"
"Gimmie ten seconds!" Annabeth yelled, stuffing some books into the shelf.
Piper flew down, waving hello to Rachel. "Hey! What's up?"
"Tyson asked me to get Annabeth."
"Why?"
"What's going on?" Annabeth asked, readjusting her blue dress as she flew over to Piper and Rachel.
"King Poseidon wants to speak to you."
Annabeth's eyes widened. "Why?"
"Tyson wouldn't tell me." Rachel said, shrugging.
"You better hurry." Piper said, grabbing the next stack of books. "I can hold down the fort until you get back."
"Thanks Piper." Annabeth said as she and Rachel quickly started flying towards the throne. As soon as the two landed in front of King Poseidon, the two quickly curtseyed. "King Poseidon."
"Good evening ladies." King Poseidon said as Annabeth and Rachel rose up.
Annabeth looked over at the side of the throne, seeing that Percy and Tyson were standing there. She bowed her head. "Prince Tyson, Prince Perseus."
"Hi." Percy said awkwardly as Tyson elbowed Percy in the arm.
Lord Chiron cleared his throat as Annabeth curtseyed once again. "Lord Chiron. Sorry, I didn't notice you there."
"Annabeth," King Poseidon said, standing up in front of his throne. "What can you tell me about the crystal fairies?"
Annabeth's face lit up. "You mean the crystal fairies of Romanacus?"
"Crystal fairies!?" Rachel asked anxiously. "People have been telling me that they're viscous creatures ever since I got here!"
"That's not necessarily true." Annabeth said, looking past Percy and seeing the fairy history book he had check out earlier that week. "See, their land sits on a natural salt mine and they protect this important power source called a crystalite that powers all of their buildings."
"Oh please." Lord Chiron said, crossing his arms. "I know everything I need to about the crystal fairies. They are viscous creatures who wage war on every creature they come across and they are the sworn enemy of the butterfly fairies!"
"What about the stories about how they grind the wings of rival fairies?" Rachel asked anxiously.
"Well Rachel, they're just that. Stories." Annabeth said, approaching the book as she looked over at Percy. "May I, Prince Perseus?"
"Of course."
Annabeth picked up the giant book, flipping to the page that Percy already had book marked. She gave him a sly look as she continued. "It says right here that the butterfly fairies and the crystal fairies all used to be friends. That is, until the king of the crystal fairies accused the butterfly fairies of stealing one of their crystalites since you're not allowed to touch one if you aren't a crystal fairy. The butterfly fairies denyed it, the crystal fairies didn't believe them, and tensions rose until, ultimately, both groups grew apart. These are the facts, King Poseidon, not the stories we were told as children to scare us into doing our chores."
"I told you she'd be good." Percy said, looking over at his father.
"I've made my decision." King Poseidon said, approaching Annabeth as she closed the book and put it "Annabeth, you will be going to Romanacus as a royal ambassador."
"I'm sorry... I'll be what?" Annabeth asked, almost dropping the book.
"You will be staying with King Jupiter and his two children for a week."
"In the heart of the crystal fairy kingdom? But I'll-"
"Be treated as a royal guest, King Jupiter assured me."
"But what about the library?"
"Piper, Thalia, Tyson, Grover, and Rachel will be taking care of it."
"I will?" Rachel and Tyson asked.
"I'm sorry, your majesty, but I need to think this through." Annabeth said, quickly flying out of the throne room.
Percy looked over at his father. "I'll go talk to her, Father."
"Thank you." King Poseidon said, smiling as Tyson and Rachel flew towards the library.
"Did you know that your father was gonna do this?" Rachel asked.
Tyson shook his head. "Nope."
"You think Piper is gonna have a heart attack?"
"Definitely." Tyson said nervously. "Let's just hope that this all goes over smoothly."
