All went white, not black as it usually does when one dies. A faint sound could be heard as if it was coming from an engine far away. Severus appeared like a painted black dot on a painted white canvas. His pace was slow as he walked ahead taking in his surroundings. A white train was approaching with white smoke coming out of it on the white tracks. The platform was deserted. Severus felt lost. He looked around. He searched for someone. Hermione.

Where was she? What was this place? Where was he?

He sat down on a bench that was as white as its ambience. A voice that called his name kept echoing inside his head. He touched his neck where the snake had bitten him. No blood appeared on his hand. So.... had he just died or not????

Wait... was this really true? Is this King's Cross where one appears when he/she passes away. He wondered for he had heard it in multiple legends of narrated by people who claied to come back from the afterlife.

He pondered as to what would happen to him then. What was he supposed to do!!

"Ah Severus, I won't say nice, but it's morbid to see you here."

Severus jerked his head towards the direction of the sound. It was Albus Dumbledore, his beloved headmaster, though he would have never ever confessed it to him, dressed up all in white.... which he usually had... well.. sort of. Dumbledore appeared slightly younger than he did at the time of his death. And a peaceful semblance was spread across his visage. So that only meant... death truly had to be peaceful.

Severus stood up to greet him while bowing his head a bit, "Headmaster!"
But Dumbledore insisted that he must sit down and himself sat beside him.
"Is this- is this- really afterlife?" Severus asked looking around. The grudge that had been fixed on his face for decades has started to disappear, his features had soften.

"Yes!"
"So this means I'm dead? I can't go back!!" He covered his face with his hands to hide that lingering regret that he didn't want to express to the old man who was keenly observing him.
"Is there something you wish to attend back to? Perhaps someone you'd like to be with again?"

This caused a dishevelled Snape to look at the former headmaster.

"Do you mean I have a choice?"

"I maybe pointing at it, but it's your decision after all. You see there.... there are two trains waiting for you. One will take you into your next great adventure after death, and the other... presented to you because of the extraordinary sacrifices you made and the good deeds that were latent beneath them, is waiting for you to take you back... to your world."

Severus knew what he had to do. "So you mean if I take the latter one I'll be back.... to the place that I'd fallen on?"

The twinkle in Dumbledore's eyes and his smile indicated that Severus was correct.

"You may not delay. Now go, my boy!"
This reflected Dumbledore's fatherly love that had forever been there for the Potions Master.

With a hug, that Severus thought he'd never give anyone, leave alone Dumbledore, Severus advanced towards the second train. He held the handle to board the train. He was about to make up his mind so that the train as well as time could take him back. Back to Hermione.

"Severus!" A feminine voice called out to him, a voice he had heard years ago, a voice he had loved once.

He turned. "Lily?"
