A haphazardly lost Hermione somehow managed to get away from the redhead. No doubt about Ronald Weasley being a sweet human, it was just the fact that she didn't feel as if they were meant to be together. Her heart belonged to someone else, someone who was no more, someone with whom she could never be...

She found her lost self descending towards the dungeons. They were cold, colder than she had ever found them to be. The reason for this that she believed in was that the light had gone out. The only flicker of hope for her had gone out. Lord Voldemort had been vanquished from the face of the world and her paramour had given up his life for the purpose. But yes, he was still alive.... alive in her heart for...
There is a light that never goes out.

Her trembling hand opened the door to the Potions classroom. Hermione looked around her. Vials still stocked with ingredients, shelves still piled with books, potions still prepared for all uses.... what the room lacked was its precious Potioneer. Teary eyed, she shrank into a nearby chair with her face in her hands.

"What brought you here at such at odd time, Ms. Granger?"

Her ears couldn't believe what she'd just heard. It couldn't- couldn't be.....

She looked up to find Severus Snape sitting on the other side of the table. Her face showed a kaleidoscope of emotions but the most profound one of them was of sheer relief. But the realization dawned upon her that she couldn't be seeing the truth.
"Why are you doing this to me?"

Severus was surprised. "Pardon..? What exactly am I doing to you Ms. Granger?"

"First you take your good enough time to actually show concern towards other human beings, all those years I'd loved you, I'd known that you were good... and all the while you kept ignoring me, building walls between us, pushing me away... one of the only humans alive who'd trusted you and most probably the only person who loved you... as a man should be loved. But you... you never let me anywhere near you. Always condescending, always insulting me.... though I never minded that all but the little head-over-heels for you girl in me who smelled your fragrance in Amortentia couldn't be strong enough to bear it... And then you had to commit a crime, but I never let my faith in you get tainted. My love for you never died. When.... when you died.......... that was the moment you chose to tell me how you really felt, huh??! Couldn't have done it earlier. How pained I am, do you even know? And you,... you are no more and I believe I've turned into an eccentric fool who has conjured you up from my imagination and is talking to you despite knowing the fact that you are nothing but a fragment of my own mind.... a memory that'll one day be lost with me... but still a beautiful memory, the best ever feeling I've ever felt, so pure, so good that I can't help myself and want to hug you right now even knowing that you'll fade away as soon as I'll touch you."

With that, she rose up with a haste and clasped the man so fight that she feared she'd lose him if her hold was not strong enough. But he did not fade, he went rigid. He was solid. Hermione froze and stepped back to take a look at him. "You're... you are real for sure?"

"I believe that I am."

Ecstasy showered over her and she held him again, crying on his shoulder. "I promise I'll never let you go now."

Severus did not know what to say. It took the last strand of resistance in him to get a grip on her shoulders and keep her at an arm's length. "I might understand that you're much enthusiastic to encounter your Professor who rose from the dead, but you must still remember to maintain professional boundaries with your acquaintances, Miss Granger."

Hermione was confused. "What do you mean? Do you not remember what happened after Nagini bit you?"

"Mr. Potter collected my tears and the last thing I saw was you fake sobbing over me."

"Fake sobbing?" Hermione couldn't believe that he'd said that.

"Obviously. You had to show the least bit of sympathy for a man dying.."

Ashamed with herself, Hermione left the dungeons with "I'm sorry for what I did today and what had happened."

Severus knew that no fake sobbing was involved but perhaps building boundaries again would help him survive without her for quite some time.
