A Quick Reminder Of The Prophecy:
Nine shall go to the land of magic,
If they do not succeed the consequences will be tragic.
The nine shall meet three more there,
And shall not succeed without their care.
---------------------------------------------------------Ron's POV
My heart was racing. We had been caught. I didn't know how Nico had gotten here so quickly or quietly, but there was no doubt that he was here.
Nico took a step toward his dresser, where a silver skull ring lay and picked it up.
"How did you get here so fast? And for what, a ring?" Hermione questioned.
"And what are you doing here? I have a feeling that you didn't just want some money." Nico shot back.
"It's none of your business what we're doing!" Harry exclaimed.
"None of my business? None of my business? I'm not allowed to know what three wizards are doing searching my room? No. You have no business in here!" Nico yelled. I could tell he was getting angry, and I didn't want to be here when he used that anger.
Just then, a massive beast came out from the shadows. No; materialized out of them! It looked like a massive black dog, but ten times more vicious. It growled at us and took a step forward. Immediately, Hermione, Harry, and I took a step back.
"Wha- what is that thing?" Harry asked.
"A Hellhound." Nico replied.
"Why'd you summon it?!" I asked, trembling with fear.
"It must have smelled me. Nine of us all with a powerful scent didn't attract any, but the second I come back it shadow-travels here. Go figure." He said, more to himself than us.
I couldn't tell if Nico was lying or if he was just as surprised by it's appearance as we were, but he wasn't scared.
"Well, get it out!" Hermione shrieked.
Nico rolled his eyes and pulled out a black sword that I hadn't noticed before. He stabbed the beast and watched as it exploded into golden dust. He sheathed his blade again and I had to work against some unseen power to see the sword's scabbard.
"Wait, you saw the Hellhound?" Nico asked, confused.
"Well yeah, that thing was huge! How could we not see it?!" I exclaimed.
Nico seemed to deem the matter unimportant; he shook his head and said "That's not the point. Get out of here and fix the wall."
I had almost forgotten about the hole, but I wasn't going to leave now.
"The only reason that we are here at all is to find evidence that you and your friends are death-eaters. If you just give up and leave, we'll let you live." Harry said.
Nico chuckled as if he thought we were joking, then realized we weren't.
"Who on earth would want to eat Thanatos?"
By this point, I was very confused. "What's a Thanatos?" I asked.
"Greek god of death." Hermione replied, not taking her eyes off Nico.
"Just get out!" Nico yelled, his temper rising.
"I want to see that sword again!" I blurted out before I could stop myself.
Nico muttered something that sounded like "So this is how Percy felt," and then took out his black blade."You wanna see how it works?"
I took a step back. It was obvious that he would make good on his threat if given an opportunity.
Harry, after giving one last suspicious glare in Nico's direction, climbed through the hole.Hermione and I followed him, Hermione "Reparo"-ing the wall behind us.
We made our way to me and Harry's dormitory and sat down on the floor. All of us were pretty spooked by Nico's sudden appearance.
Finally, Hermione broke the silence. "How do you think he got in the dormitory so quickly? I don't remember seeing his wand, nor a broomstick. Was it some dark magic he learned from Voldemort?"
"Probably. But what if Nico and the others aren't actually Death-eaters?" I wondered. "Then we've just been harassing some exchange students. We could check their arms; see if any of them have the Dark Mark."
"A simple disillusionment charm would hide the mark. Besides, we can't just ask them to hold out their arm." Hermione pointed out.
"So we'll have to catch them by surprise!" Harry answered, suddenly filled with enthusiasm.
"Our last attempt to catch them didn't go so well." Hermione reminded us. "Nico has probably told the others about our security breach. They'll be on their guard for at least another month. And when has Percy or the others tried to harm us? Let's just go to bed. It's pretty late." She got up and left, closing the door behind her.We stayed up and talked about the problem for another hour, but we didn't have any big discoveries. Soon we were just repeating ourselves. I could tell by Harry's expression that this reminded him of the Bad Old Days when we were running from Voldemort and trying to find the Sword Of Gryffindor. When I went to bed, I could see Harry looking at the Marauder's Map; trying to see if Nico was still in the castle. Harry's frustrated mutterings told me he wasn't though.
Annabeth's POV
"THEY WERE DOING WHAT?!?!" I screamed as Nico explained what had happened. He had only gotten back a couple of minutes ago. We had taken him to the Golden Fleece and then he had called a Councillor's meeting. Chiron, Clovis, Will, Lou, Katie, Sherman, Connor, Travis, Pollux, Butch, Holly, Laurel, Piper, Hazel, Jason, Percy, Frank, Leo, Nico, Calypso (Who was not technically head Councillor but was needed), and I were in the Big House.
"I thought they trusted us." Piper said, drawing everyone's attention to her. She shrunk back into her chair a bit, but nobody else seemed to notice.
"They probably won't take too kindly to Will, Katie, Thalia, and the Stolls." I pointed out. "Speaking of which, where are you guys going to be staying? Is the room going to magically expand or something?
"Yes." Chiron answered.
"Cool. So the room is going to look different when we arrive? I wonder how that'll work." Leo said.
Leo and I traded theories about it until Lou finally said "It's magic. It doesn't have to be logical."
"Guys. Let's focus on the main problem here. Harry, Ron, and Hermione were searching our stuff. I know for a fact that they found some drachmas, even if they don't know what they are. The 'Golden Trio' or whatever they call themselves have proven that the walls are weak spots. The door may be untouchable but that won't matter anymore. They can just break the walls and repair them once they've searched. If they find a weapon or something, we're gonners." Nico warned. I knew he was right; we all did. But I was still hoping that we'd been right to put or faith in Harry, Ron, and Hermione.
