Over a week had passed, and school still felt very strange without Emily around. Although she wasn't one of the popular kids, it was still noticeable that somebody was missing. Peter's group was back down to being a trio, but even Flash was laying off with the snarky behavior lately. What was most daunting to the group was that they were all invited to the funeral of Emily's mother the evening before, seeing all her friends, even a few people her family knew before they moved to New York and no sign of Emily. It didn't seem appropriate to discuss her disappearance to anyone at somebody else's funeral, but it was clear it was on everybody's mind. It was a small number of people which was quite nice to see those who cared clearly really cared about them. But it still wasn't right. It did put a downer on the group today as the memory of the funeral was still very fresh on everybody's minds. Newspapers were put up on notice boards around the school with a picture of Emily and her mom, looking happy. The titles always read something along the lines of how her mother was a hero, but not many highlighting her daughter's disappearance. Peter's favorite was the Daily Bugle headlines '𝙃𝙚𝙧𝙤 𝙈𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙎𝙪𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙫𝙤𝙧 𝘿𝙖𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩𝙚𝙧', written by MJ herself, from her weekend job. Peter had told Ned and MJ about the CCTV footage and what really happened in the bank that day, but to keep it in his confidence and not tell a soul. Not until the police felt it was appropriate to be known, and when the audio from the tape had been isolated.
All within a blur, the day had passed them by, but their mood hadn't. They agreed to stay home that night, unless if Peter got the call about another robbery, then he would contact MJ and Ned. Ned would meet him at the bank with the drone, ready to watch the area for the electrical currents, and MJ would go to the location as soon as it was discovered to watch and take notes of anyone coming and going from their hideout. That was the plan. Peter felt ready until he actually got the call from Yuri. "Spiderman, the demons are back, I'll send you the coordinates of where the call came in from," Demons? Peter hadn't heard that name for anything before. "Demons? the bank robbers?" He called back through. "Yeah, that's what the people are calling them now, probably because of how they disappear from the scene," She explained back to him as he put on his suit. This was it. If they didn't get it right this time, who knows how long it would be before the demons struck again, if ever. "Ned, I'm sending you details of the robbery, I'll see you there. MJ, call a taxi now, and don't be afraid to bully them into driving faster, okay?" Peter called into the group chat before jumping out his window, swing into the direction of the trouble.
A few minutes pass before he was on the scene, and he could see Ned already had the drone flying above the bank while hiding down one of the alleyways in the area. "I'm all set up, MJ you ready?" Ned asked through the group call. "Yep, I'm in the taxi now, ᵍᵉᵗ ʳᵉᵃᵈʸ ᵗᵒ ᶠˡᵒᵒʳ ⁱᵗ!" she could be heard telling the driver in the background. Peter swung through the outdoor vents, navigating his way inside. He had the courage that this could go exactly as planned, but he also didn't want to get his hopes up. He saw up to 10 men, at least, with their masks on and body armor. They had already had access to the vault and were loading stuff into their gym bags, while 4 men kept watching across at the vault door, and the rest of them were keeping an eye on the civilians inside and for the cops outside. Spiderman instant dropped down from the vents and knocked down the two of the men standing watch at the vault door, while the other two charged to bash him with the bases of their rifles. Obviously, having the super fast reflexes that he did, he had already dodged their attacks, being careful not to get carried away with his crime-fighting so they can escape. In this time, the two men loading up the bags in the vault had already run out and made a break for the center of the room, with the others who were patrolling the bank, firing their guns as they ran, luckily not at the civilians, but at spiderman instead. By the time they got to the middle, they let off their smoke grenades, instantly alerting the drone above the bank, which was giving live feed to Peters built-in screen.
"MJ, I'm sending you the location, get there now!" Ned yelled over the phone. "On it!" She responded as she made her way to the location, while Peter stayed behind to make sure the civilians were okay and unharmed. "Ned, you legend! See you soon MJ," He thanked the team on the phone before heading off towards the source of the energy current.
Peter swung through the city, passing over the flashing blue lights of the police cars as they headed toward the bank. He was reminded of his promise to Yuri, to contact her as soon as he got the information, but he wasn't going to call her just yet, not until he knew exactly what it was he was about to get into. He soon arrived at the location of the new hideout and saw MJ on a balcony overlooking the site. It was an old unused warehouse, which used to be occupied by Wilson Fisk before Spiderman stopped their work around a year ago. He dropped down behind her. "Anything happened yet?" He asked. "Not outside, nobody has come in or left the scene, but there was a bright flash in one of the windows," She said, looking up from her binoculars. "How did you get up here anyway?" He asked. She pulled out her taser with a smirk to answer his question. "MJ, you didn't?!" He raised his voice. "I'm kidding! I just told them I've been tracking a bird that flew up here!" She flew her arms up in defense, laughing. Peter just shook his head before jumping off again, swinging to the warehouse.
Crawling through the vents, he got an incoming call from Mr. Stark. "Kid, I'm back in town, what did I miss?" He asked, making Peter jump. "Ah! Mr. Stark, can I call you back?" he whispered, trying to not be heard by the men standing below him. "Why, what are you doing?" Tony asked, audibly going into dad mode. "I'm working, just- *sigh* I'll call you back," Peter said before, signing off the call. He carried on crawling until there was one man stood on a balcony above the rest of the group down below, so he dropped down and knocked him out as quietly as he could. "This is all you could get?" A familiar voice sounded in the background. He saw some large figure turned away from the group of masked men. They had these large mechanical wings on their back, which appeared very similar to the design and texture Dr. Octavious used for his robotic arms. He has been unseen for a while since Spiderman failed the catch him but managed to scare him away from his last fight. Looking closer, you could see bright white hair braided back in two plaits, around the length of Emily's hair. This figure could also be seen wearing white spandex, with black armor guards around their legs, with large and heavy white combat boots. The appearance of this person seemed similar to the inverted man at the bank and the docks, as Peter could now see as they slowly turned around, their skin was like a void of darkness. "Yes boss, the strange spandex man foiled our mission," One man could be heard swearing their question. Peter felt a little insulted that they thought his spandex was weird, but he was more focussed on the person they were talking to. "Leave me," The person said, turning a little for Peter to see their side of their face. They obeyed their command. As soon as they left through the door, Peter webbed it up to ensure none of the men could come back in.
