Extra Chapter - Stray Cat

Tanjiro’s POV

~This is what happened after chapter 13~

It’s been 2 years since we have talked face-to-face with Zenitsu’s parents. Until now, we were still together, happy, loving and caring for each other. My moving into Zenitsu’s house was complete! All of my stuff was here. Even my shelves, instruments, and all the things I had in my old house. I had also contacted my parents beforehand to sell the house and that I was moving in with my boyfriend- no, my husband.

They were very shocked with what I had said but they still continued to support me. Since they were abroad, they didn’t see the news that went viral about me and Zenitsu getting together. I’m glad that they accepted it immediately. They were very supportive parents, mostly because they weren’t that close to me personally.

Ever since Nezuko was born, they decided to go abroad and start a business in America. Leaving me by myself with my aunt and uncle until I graduated and became even more responsible. My parents got the news that I graduated and said to give me my own house! They said they could afford it because they were just very rich with the business that they’ve put up. I still don’t know what that business is exactly, even after 7 years since graduating.

Anyway, I said to sell the house that I had been living in alone and that’s exactly what they did. They sold the house for maybe about 21,433,400 yen! Which is about $200,000 in America. That money was enough for both Zenitsu and I to live for a year. And what’s more is that, we still have about 15 million yen left! We were very surprised with this amount that we asked for my parents to take some. They humbly declined and told us we need it if we have a child..? I was very confused with that but didn’t think too long about it. Since they insisted, we accepted it. Now, we were living happily in our new house!

With Kanao and Kaigaku coming by every so often. They actually even got married! (A/N: Kanao and Kaigaku were the same age here because I don’t want the FBI suddenly banging on my door… and this is also not a new ship, I just needed it for the story so don’t come and fight me saying that they didn’t even meet because I know that. Anyway, back to the story.) We were very happy with the news and gave them gifts! They also took care of Zenitsu’s old house which were the one where he and Kaigaku were living in before.

In our free time, we jogged and exercised together! Even though Zenitsu was being a little bit whiny to why he should even exercise. He said this exact line:

“Why do I need to exerciseeeee!?!! You’ll love me even if I get chubby, rightttt??” He whines that for so long that I kind of got it imprinted into my brain.

“I will love you even if you are fat buuuuut…… you are still an idol!!” After I say that, he realizes it and he still whines. We also have this exact conversation every time we went to go exercise last year. But now, he accepts it and it’s basically a routine for us. Remembering that made me laugh a little.

~This is where the explanation or flashback ends!~

I was walking together with Zenitsu. We had just finished buying some groceries. We got eggs, chicken, some meat, and a bunch of other vegetables! We were happy with this and just talked and laughed together while walking around town.

Until, my eye caught a stray kitten in an alleyway. The poor little kitten was shaking. It was wet and shivering. Honestly, it looked like it was about to die. The poor thing…

Feeling pity and sad to just leave it there, I tell Zenitsu that we should take it to a nearby vet to get it checked up on. He accepts and takes a towel, and then wraps it around the kitten. It was easy to pick up because it was laying on the ground, breathing heavily. We just picked it up and wrapped it around the towel and then ran to the nearest veterinarian.

Eventually, we come upon a nice looking pet clinic that looked very neat and nice. We go inside and ask for help. Zenitsu handed me the kitten and said that I should head on over to the veterinarian’s office while he goes and pays for it. I gladly accept it and ran up the stairs to the veterinarian’s room.

I quickly head into the vet’s room and knock before entering. He said that I could come in so I did. Apparently, the veterinarian’s name is “Muichiro Tokito.” He was a short looking teenager with long black hair that turns into a beautiful light-blue color on the ends. His bangs were looking unruly on his forehead. His eyes were empty-looking mint-green eyes. He invited me to take a seat so I did and I quickly showed the kitten and he demanded an explanation.

“U-um! Tokito-sensei! We saw this kitten breathing really heavily in an alleyway and it looked like it was really about to die! So, we picked it up quickly and headed on over to the nearest pet clinic!” As I say this, he takes the kitten from my hand and puts it on top of a tiny pet bed. And he examines it.

“Hmm. Okay. You can sit down first and wait while I examine it.”

“O-okay! Thank you so much!” He sounded really nice to be honest. His voice didn’t sound angry or mean. His smell also didn’t show any signs of regret or annoyance. He even gave of the smell that he was happy to take care of it!

“You were very kind to bring this poor kitten to safety. There are barely people like that left.”

“N-no! It was the right thing to do a-and I couldn’t just leave it out there to die… but thank you.”

“No problem.” His sudden comment or compliment, shocked me and kind of put me on the spot. But thankfully, I replied to him politely…sort of…

He takes a while examining it and eventually Zenitsu comes in. I introduce Zenitsu to the vet and the vet to Zenitsu. The vet was a really nice and kind person. He didn’t lose his cool or temper or anything. Not even a whiff of anger was sensed around him. He finishes examining the kitten and apparently, someone- some monster, poured hot water on it! Zenitsu and I looked at each other looking very shocked and angry at that person that did that to the poor kitten.

“How could someone do something like this?!” Zenitsu angrily asked.

“I understand your anger but… there’s nothing we can do to those people… There were a lot of owners that take their anger out on their pets and unfortunately… even tried to kill them…” Angry faces were just turned into sad ones. 3 of us in the room were very sad.

“Sad to say but, this is the world we live in… you know we can’t change that…” Tokito added. He looked like he experienced this way too many times. It really was unfortunate that there were people like this.

While we talked about the kitten’s examination, the kitten was in another room getting cleaned up and other doctors were giving it medicine. Also, the kitten was a boy! We mostly just talked about how sad the world is while waiting for the kitten to finish getting cured. Tokito also said that they might just put the kitten up for adoption.

We were again, very sad to hear that so Zenitsu happily yelled out of his own will, to adopt the cat himself! I was actually going to suggest that to him after talking but I guess he had caught on. So, after the kitten was finished getting checked up, it looked really happy and fluffy! It was adorable!! We sadly put it in a small cage for a while and thanked the vet, Tokito, for helping us and kitten! We also bought some cat food and a bowl and its own water fountain on the way out to the pet clinic!

Zenitsu looked really happy with it. They both looked cute together… He was playing with it while I was buying the cat’s necessities. He also told me that he named it “Ayumu”! It looked really good and perfect for the cat! He was a tri-colored, Persian, fluffy cat! Thinking about what my mom said before, this might be what she meant when we ‘get a child’. But now, because of this.

These days were filled with even more happiness and love. The End!

The extra chapter is done!! Kind of surprising that it was longer than the main story’s chapters… anyway, after this, I will be doing a Q&A regarding on everyone’s questions about this book and what I should do next! I’ll be counting on everyone for that! Thank you all so much!! I love you, bye!!
