Chapter 9 - The Debt I Owe

(A/N: This chapter explains the reason why Zenitsu suddenly had an appointment. So this happened just after the concert!)

Kanao’s POV

(A/N: She’s talking about her past here!!)

I was just a small little girl with big hopes and dreams. I wanted to become a famous manager of a famous idol solo or group. I never liked to be at the center of the attention. I didn’t want the spotlight at all. But I wanted to give someone that spotlight. I wanted to make someone shine! I had all these dreams and my plans for my future were laid out. Almost perfectly.

The time came when I was in college. I focused so much in studies that I didn’t have time to go out with friends or even socialize. I knew that I needed to get out of my shell if I wanted to be a manager. I needed to get ready for interviews and such. I needed to be great at public speeches and I should really learn how to get rid of this nervousness.

With those thoughts in mind, it just gave me an overwhelming pressure. It was so overwhelming that if I even lose focus once, I would’ve passed out from the knowledge. Because I was a little too focused in studies, when someone talks to me or walks up to me, I ignore them blatantly. I didn’t care at all what they said about me. Whether they call me a huge nerd or a massive introvert, I didn’t care at all. I just wanted to be successful and great.

After my midterms, I did some project presentations and actually was part of the student council so, I needed to speak publicly. After I finished speaking, they all stood up and clapped. They cheered for me. I was really happy that my hard work finally paid off! I almost burst into tears but I stopped it from flowing out when it still wasn’t. I was so close to my dream!!

These dreams and aspirations were almost ended when I got into a car accident. I was running because I was just celebrating and really happy with my accomplishments. Because I was so happy, I forgot to pay attention to the road. It was still at a red light and to my dismay, the driver was drunk. When I noticed the car coming for me from just kilometers away, I couldn’t do anything. Even though the car was still far away, I still froze up. Luckily, people shook me awake with their yells and just before the car hit me, I managed to move forward. I got away with just a broken foot and leg.

With all the pain and the relief of the news that I’m still alive, I fainted at all the information. People have called the emergency services and when I woke up, I was in a hospital bed with casts. The nurse comes in and her jaw drops. She drops her stuff and quickly runs to a doctor, I presume.

I just sat my head back on the pillow and just thought of the things that just happened. My train of thought was halted when the doctor comes in.

“Good Morning, uhhh- Ms. Kanao!” He knows my name huh. I guess my parents got news of this accident. Unfortunately, they were abroad. How exactly did he get my name?

“So, how are doing? Are there any pains?” He asks worriedly. I hesitate to speak but I guess I have to since no one else will do it for me.

“I’m doing great so far… just great…” I whisper but he definitely heard that since his eyes dropped. He looked at me with pity.

“That’s good… anyway, no one has paid for your hospital fees and we were going to ask the bank to loan you some money but since you have awoken, we were going to ask you how to pay. We wish that you would pay us immediately since, we are getting kind of busy…” Hearing that news, I jump in anger. My parents doesn’t know this?! How?! What kind of hospital is this to ask a victim of a car accident for money immediately?!
