The week went by so fast for Evelyn. Her classes took up most of her time, and her homework the rest. She'd finished two paintings, and one oil pastel drawing, plus one small colored pencil sketch. She'd never worked harder in her life. Her professor was pleased, but Evelyn knew that that would not last very long. But this hard work was all for a reason. Evelyn wanted nothing to do by Friday night, so that she had nothing to worry about, but her and Dan watching anime together, and also catching up with the plot. It had been so long, but she remembered the way her teenage personality nearly cried at the very mention of the show. It caused her so many sleepless nights and sobbing fits, that it distracted her from what haunted her currently; her ugly appearence and her eating disorder. Now that her time wasn't filled with edgy music and intense fight scenes, she had all the time she could desire for binging, purging, and cutting alike. As Evelyn walked through the bleak, barren hallway to her apartment, she dragged along next to her a canvas, covered in colors of blue, purple, red and black, and her bookbag, heavy with assignments for next Tuesday. Evelyn didn't care. She had nothing to do for the enitre night. She let the toes of her chunky heel boots drag on the floor as she made her way in front of her apartment door. She put the key in the lock and turned, and it glided open with ease, not like it should if it were locked. Evelyn started to panic. She started to fear the worse. Someone broke into my flat. Stole all my things. How could I recover? She dropped all her things outside the door and burst in, frantically looking round for all of her belongings. All of the appliances on her kitchen counter were still there. Nothing seemed like it had been touched. Except for the couch in the lounge. On it, sat Kipa. She was alone, for the first time in a while, for she never seemed to leave Louis's side. She sat up straight, posture perfect, her face tight and emotionless. Evelyn stared at her for a while, then sighed and returned to the hall to pick up her things. As she turned and shut the door behind her, arms now full, and placed them all before the door.

"What brings you to my flat today Kipa? What could be so urgent that you would enter without my permission?" Evelyn said with sarcastic politeness as she removed her shoes and left them at the door. Kipa rose, but did not near Evelyn, still without a single expression on her face. Evelyn approached her, and even without her heels she towered over Kipa. Kipa looked up at her, and finally she spoke.

"I'm your friend, right?" Evelyn was surprised by this sudden questioning. Kipa hadn't even yet answered why she had broken into Evelyn's flat.

"Well, yes. Why would you ask that?" Evelyn replied, astonished. She knew she hadn't been the best friend recently, but she had no time to worry about Kipa's wonderful life. She had her own miserable existence to take after.

"Evelyn, you haven't exactly shown me that. I showed up at your door with my fiancé last night, and you basically slammed the door in my face. And for what? A date? One measly date with a bum you met at a club? I hardly think that's an appropriate reason to shut me out on a very special night for me," Kipa said, sounding as if she had planned this conversation for a while. I guess I really shook her up, Evelyn thought.

"Kipa, you are a great friend. You try to support me, but I'm not always going to meet your standards. I'm not really that much of a sensitive person. I'm quite explicit, actually, so you just have to deal with it sometimes," Evelyn explained lamely. She'd never been good in a dramatic or emotionally tugging situation. Kipa looked away at her comment. Evelyn could tell what was coming next; the wobbling chin, the tear streaked makeup. Ugh. Here we go.

"That's what friends do! They make sacrifices for each other. They do things for each other. They help each other out. So far, this friendship has seemed a little...onesided to me," Kipa said, her voice starting to tremble. Evelyn rolled her eyes.

"This isn't a reality show, Kipa! Not all friendships are going to be perfect! You need to get used to a life that isn't how you always want it to be. That's the life I've been living for years now!" Evelyn was starting to get frustrated. Kipa had always had an unrealistic outlook on life. Evelyn didn't understand how she hadn't already figured out that life wasn't always going to be fair.
